Had my first trackday in the ek9 since it's been boosted.
Goes great guns but I'm half filling my oil catch tank after 20mins.
I've got an open vent can with two lines coming from behind the block, I thought this would be fine but obviously not lol
Do I need extra vents in the head or something else?
No drain back system just a can with two holes and a vent on top.

A drain back is ideal.
I'm using two fittings on my cover. One -10 fitting from the front going directly to the catch can. And a -6 welded in place of the oem breather going into the drain back hose (t piece) into the black breather box that's located on the back of the block. (Pcv valve has been deleted)

I will be however welding a baffle to the rear of my valve cover so I can weld a port their instead as I don't like running them at the front specially so close to the ramhorn. Something to consider later on.

I've completely removed the black box and bunged the hole up.
Is filling the can up usual with these or does that point to something that needs attention?

Run a drain back in to the hole where the black can used to drain in to, some extra vents on cam cover seems pretty standard procedure on turbo b's

If I were you put the black box back in and use this as a drain back from the catch can. Simple. No need to make it complicated tbh mate

Issue with putting the black box back in is that I've bunged the hole up with a core plug.
Might be able to get it out but could be a pain in the arse. Will look into drain back then.

Take that box off and put in a removable plug like from Z10 Motorsports.

This will not be under pressure, only keeps the oil returning to the pan from coming out the back of the block.

I used to suffer with the same problem .
I ran 2 ports off the back of the block to a catch can .
I used to empty it before I went to Santa pod , drove there and done about 5-6 runs and the tank would be pretty full .
I've over come this now by venting my cam cover to another catch tank via an-12 lines .
I haven't needed to empty the tanks for months now .

:win:

Lads,
ive already done the back of block breathers using h22 ports, these run to an open vent catch can.
Exactly the same as the ones Tama posted. I've also blocked off the oem breather box port, it's not there anymore. Been replaced by a core plug.

Engine is stock other than the turbo hanging off it lol
This is how full it was after about 15-20mins hardish track driving

The oil in the engine is brand new btw. About 500miles. Doesn't look like that^ on the dip stick. Nice golden colour, not sure why it looks so dark here but it isn't old oil.

Here's what I've done

A - blocked off
B- replaced with a port
C- replaced with a port
D- blocked with core plug

B and C go to the catch can.

I think a drain back might be in order, even though i dont like the idea of them. Unless you drain back into the oem black box.

Lol I haven't got the oem black box, been blocked with the core plug.
So a drain back is the way forward! This oil went straight back into the engine anyway so makes no difference to me.

Unusual it's putting that much oil out, have a catch can from black box and from rear of rocker cover and Duran a full track day I'd only get a few mm of stuff from my high comp b18 and it was drove hard throughout the day

The reason you are filling up the can is because you are using both the block ports.
Blank off the one nearest the alternator(B) And run an extra 2 from the cam cover.
You do not need a drain back, thats masking the problem.
I use the black box and that tees into the standard breather on the cam cover, then onto the can. And two extra cam cover breathers. I never get any oil in the can.
