Hey all,

spoke to a chap called Martin who's on here.

Was good to meet you. hope you enjoyed the drive home ;)

Yo!

Yeah had a hour n a half smile on my face, nice to drive my ek9 again after so long!

I dont know if u were still there at the time but we got 219bhp at the flywheel

219bhp from a supercharger is that it ? I'm confused or is it not supercharged?

Nice, belt it felt good!!

Yeh I was there, I thought it would be around that when it made like 184 at the wheels.

My drive home was interesting, Romain knows his stuff!!

Why's the power so low, shouldn't it be nearer 300bhp?

I've seen a 306 GTI-6 running a Supercharger and that was nearer 400bhp. I'd have thought this would be as capable of that if not more potentially.

He could have had other limiting factors. Such as the injectors he's running, or the size of his supercharger pulley which will determine the boost level.
Can be many reasons why its "only 220hp" I'd be chuffed if my 9 had 220hp.

If that was the case though surely you'd want to have better injectors or other limiting factors eliminated before going down SC route, don't see the point of doing it if that's the case I'd want much more power for what I've had done than what it's pumping out, no disrespect to the OP here just stating a fact.

If you're happy with 220bhp may as well just stay NASP or go for a low blow turbo set up instead imo.

^ totally agree with this. It does seem like a waste of money (for a little extra could of achieved so much more), injectors cost what - £100?

Either that, or there is something seriously wrong with it..

@ Jake - standard EK9 is 185... He made 219 = 70? lol....

Considering my old B16b block managed to get 215 whp squeezed from it on Standard cams whilst being NA..

A standard EK9 won't make 185bhp on a Dyno Dynamics which is the Dyno Eurospec has. The shop I tune at has the exact same dyno, there not called the "heartbreaker dyno" for nothing! A healthy b16b with full bolt on's and mapped ecu will put out between 180-190bhp on a DD dyno.

@Wazer, 215whp on a Dynapack hub dyno iirc? I had a jordan civic in for remap recently which was mapped not long ago by Will @RDT who has a Dynapack hub dyno. We gave the car 3 power runs to get a baseline figure before any changes were made and it's best run was 20WHP less than the dyno sheet he got from RDT! So you see results from one dyno to another can vary massively.

Not when you've spent ££££ to get it. I can't see the power band been too good as well. I'm always in favour of a properly sized turbo over a supercharger for a small engine (e.g. Honda 4cyl). Superchargers rob power to make power. If you haven't the torque in the first place, then it's kind of pointless....

Here is a graph for a Jackson racing supercharged b16 I mapped some years ago, as you can see the torque curve is pretty nice and it holds out the torque well so they do actually produce a good power band....

Hmmmmmm, you've got me lol. That must of been fun. Still though, I'd rather a turbo any day of the week. :))

If I remember correctly, Romain said he didnt want to push for more power as the setup was at the max of its capabilities.

The car was imported to the U.K. with the supercharger kit already on it..
