Hi,
I currently have a 2002 EP3 CTR with a Kpro ecu, i am thinking about changing it for an EK9. I know there are a few people on here who have done the same, just wanting to see if you think its the right thing to do?

cheers

Haha, i thought not!
Little bit of a biased place to be asking this question. Just wanting to get some help weighing up the pro's and con's of it all!
The 9 is faster to 60 but the EP3 is faster to 100, but i just cant resist the lure of an LSD! Arghhhh!!

ek all the way, when i was on the long drive home from pickin mine up last week i got a wee race with an ep3 on a quiet long stretch of the motorway and the results were nice :nice:

If you want a faster top-end, or Bakery is your profession, go for the EP3 ;)

Have you got any mods on your 9?

ive raced an ep3 from 4th gear @ 80mp up to 5th @ 135-140 mph, it was behind by at least 5 car lengths, he started in front, i was surprised:nice::D
( pleas note this took place on an unused airstrip:D)

The last time I tried to race a honda (it was an accord on a b20 block...i think) in my Mazda (130 bhp), I ended up slipping a bit during braking off before a turn and humping a curb at 120 kmh...

You guys are selling this swap pretty well!
Is it advisable to get the facelift version?

preference really, i much prefer the pre facelift, facelift RX has some extras i think

imo, the speed isnt the why you buy the ek9. Sure its fast for a 1.6, however, its more of the overall experience. The handling is the best thing about the car as it justs glides through corners; LSD ;)
You'll appreciate that balance much more, as your ep3 does not have an LSD (UK). The experience and drving feedback is what you are after ;)

I think Babyface sums it up nicely its the EK9 experience until I actually had one I thought yeah right overrated and having owned 2 EP3's both bought new I doubted it, in fact I thought i would experience the EK9 and sell it fairly quickly. Now I doubt if I will ever part with it. The EK9 is just that a fantastic package that makes me smile every time I take it out.

Yeah i know what you mean about the overall experience, dont get me wrong i love the EP3 but i think the 9 would be a much better drive. The steering on the EP3 is just so vague! I am also sick of the amount of EP3's you see on the road, want something rarer, just like a 9!
