hi guys am new to this forum and i just done my first engine swap. i have a 99 5 door civic 1.4 and i put a 1.8 vtec engine in it and changed the loom and ecu that came with the 1.8 engine and now it wont even turn over from the key i have to put power to the starter and it still wont start . the engine will turn over but wont start can anyone help :please:

Immobilizer? Can you hear fuel pump priming when you turn the key on?

If its an immobiliser fault it wont let the pump prime anyway?

im sure you have to change the fuel pump and tank if you are putting a vtec in a non vtec. i could be wrong though but it does sound like an immobiliser problem

Not true. Once its a fuel injected honda your swapping the vtec engine into then tank etc. is fine

if its b18c4 engine from a MB6 then it will be the immobiliser. ive heard this is the one problem with this conversion.
have no idea what needs to be done though in this case :S

happened to my friend with a different swap,he changed the interior loom or something to that effect and it worked no hassle, just said i'd mention it to try help, not sure if tis prob in your case

are the grounds connected?
have you try using a OBD1 ecu with a jumper?

cheers for all the answers guys to answer a few yes i can hear the fuel pump priming when i turn the igniton on so i dont think its the immob. the engine is b18c4 i got the car for 400 euro so i have changed evrything from it to mine wiring harness, ecu, engine, keys, ignition, key reader everything i taught was needed so am getting guy tomorrow to put on diagnostics see if that shows anything will let yous no anyway cheers for the replys :)

Have you power at the starter? Should be +12v at the main feed to starter

am not sure never checked it yet will do will check it in morn and let you know then cheers:)

hey i checked the power going to starter and it turns out that thers no power going to it now since i changed the looms i checked the starter relay i forgot to plug it back on lol  but its still doing the same thing only the key immob. lights flashing now but the fuel pump still primes up . would the fuel pump come on if immob. ?

I didn't think so but maybe its only cutting spark. I assume you pulled a plug to check for spark?

immobiliser doesnt stop the starter - the engine would still turn over - it just wouldnt start.

Not sure if the fuel pump still primes tho.
