My car massively failed the MOT on emissions. It has no cat fitted which will explain it (I hope) but it also has a Spoon ECU. Are these ok emissions wise or do they tend to be a bit higher than a standard ECU?

It will be the cat, I doubt the spoon ecu would run it too rich to not pass with a cat.

Can you not get the boys a bottle of voddy? Lol

I've recently moved and it's a new garage i've not used before and the MOT tester was in a real bad mood (Monday morning). Was moaning about anything and everything on the car.

My usual place would put on a Nissan Micra or something to get me through emissions.

Put the cat back on...

I will be, just got to buy one 1st. Was just wondering if the Spoon ECU may be adding to the problems.

Nah, it should be running closed loop feedback from the O2 sensor which will correct the fueling to a lambda value of 1. Remember, the Spoon ECU was designed for the Japanese market and they are VERY fussy with emissions.

Cats need to be fitted by law, i had to swap my oem header back on, but it failed its mot this morn on something else

As has been said its nothing to do with the spoon ECU, my DC2 has one and went straight through emissions a few weeks ago
