EK9 V UK Spec ep3 Type R

How do you guys fare against ep3's on the strip and track in your ek9's?
 
stock? might as well let them win by default, they got 400cc more & 220hp, i'd take them on with my PC37 though. :D
 
mcpherson struts don't give the feel & feedback of a double wishbone suspension, the stock hp of the EK9 is enough for me to learn the ropes on the track, suspension mods first, engine mods last.
 
Hey..

I drive a 2000rx And My mate has a 05 Ep3 - Quater mile the Ek9 Has it by a few car lenghts purely from power to weight difference - however open road and with the 6 speed box the Ep3 has the power advantage. Well thats when my car was standard, hehe I leave him for dead now !!!

Yeah I think a good 4 branch manifold - de-cat and nice cold intake you will be giving them abit of a scare !! They have the advantage of the 2.0 engine bud - 197bhp, and a good bit more torque. One thing they cant do is bends tho bud, im not trying to offend any Ep3 owners on here but the Ek9 would seriously out preform it on the twisties - No LSD and Suspention set-up isnt track orientated at all. They just abit big and boaty to be throwing around tight bends.

well the standard Ep's have 197bhp? And the 9 weighs well less than Ep surley the 9 would destroy a EP3???
 
an standard ek9 will not out drag a standard ep3 , the ep3 has a very good engine but thats about it
on the track the ek9 will out handle the ep3 cos the uk ep3 handling set up is rubbish
some may even go as far to say that the ep3 was never a real type r you never even a limted slip diff

Yea, UK "Type R's" should be called "Claim R's" :lol:
 
HA!!! Stateside, our EP3 sucks having a measly 160HP.....our EM1 (99-00 Civic Si, closest equivalent to an EK4/EK9) probably could hang with an EP3 stock easy.

EM1 - 2601lbs, B16A2 - 160HP 111ft-lbs tq
EP3 - 2782lbs, K20A3 - 160HP 132ft-lbs tq

I have them both beat though :D

Swapped 96 CX Hatch (EJ6) - 2222lbs (well originally, no idea on current weight), B16A2 lightly modded approx 165HP 115ft-lbs tq. My engine came from a 99 EM1 :p

WHAT... ur all mad!!!! the ek9 gets its ass handed to it by ep3..... the ek9 has only 121 torque... ep3's have about 155!!!!

STOCK 1/4 time's... best motoring by the way....

sorry lads the ep3 is far ahead.... i have seen stock ones race!!
1st and 2nd are simular but third and 4th the ep pulls a few lenghts... both stock!!!

my integra type r can just about beat one!!! just!!

around a track it is seconds ahead... the ek9 i think has better handling but the power diff and 6 speed just leaves ek9 for dead on 1:20 track ur talking like 3-4 seconds... again ive seen this on local track. the best ive seen a stock ek9 do is 2:13 on standard tyres, the ep3 completly stock did 2:05!!!!


the track was mondello international racing circut. (best dc2 was 2:08)
