right.
i've owned both a 97 ek9 and a 2002 JDM type r, the 220bhp one with lsd.
1/4 miles times, for both my cars, same 1/4
ek9 - 14.6
ep3 - 14.7
on the road, in a straight line, they both felt very similar.
i raced a few uk ep3's on the road with my ek9, some i absolutely trashed, some were dead even, every car/driver is different.
on a good road/track, the ek9 was miles better. the lsd in the ep3 didnt seem to work as well, and the overall grip wasnt as good. the ek9 gave you more confidence and reacted alot better than the ep3. i suppose the ep3 was a bit boring to be honest, nowhere near as fun!
over the 2 i'd choose an ek9 any time. i'd have another. i wouldn't have another ep3, uk or jdm.
i beat all ep3 i'v raced. Once at the lights i dident slip the clutch properly an the ep3 pulled of about a car lenth but only till the vtech kiked in then i flew past him to my and his amasment!! The lack of touque is a factor only before the vtech kicks in, but if you hold the revs at about 5000 an slip the clutch you got no problem blowin the uk ep3 away!
What an alsome car all round!!!
from people's experience, i can see the ek9being faster, same as the ep3.
however, its hard to believe that an ek4 can keep up with an ep3. i mean, i have alot friends driving the ek4(me in the past aswell) and i can pull a good 4 cars infront of a vti.
sounds like everyone here has good techniques for beating EP3s etc But, no way it'll beat a dc2R unless their engines lost CR or got probs. Most of the times, it's the driver.
But if some of these guys are your mates, why not swap cars for another run and see what happens... is it the driver or the car? It'll be interesting...
sounds like plan. i know ITR's are faster than a ek4 by a fair bit people that i have raced just dont drive them hard enough of the line. cos once i am half way down the strip the ITR rapidly starts pullig it back and pass me or it is neck and neck on the line. where as the ep3 the gap just stays the same
