a guy who lives down the street from me has had one for about a month now, and seems to drive it around like its something to be feared (arm out the windows, wheel spin out of the street)

i dont know much about fords in general but so far what i know about this car is:

170 bhp (130 kW) from a 2.5 litre V6 24v engine

Looks a heavy car too.

anyone been up against one?
if not how do you think an EK9 would compare with one?

:thanks:

170bhp with how much it weighs i would have thought an ek9 would murder it, just look smuggley at him each time in the knowing he would LOSE!!! mwahahahaha!!

hopefully when i get my EK9 (which im getting annoyed now cuz of still money issues i keep pushing it back) i'll get my chance, he wont be happy when his v6 is put in place by a 1.6 4 cylinder.....

:))

you will wipe the floor with him

think about it, a massive 4 door with less power against a small hatchback with more

how the hell does more power and less weight even make you contemplate losing

i had a good idea the 9 would hold it own, just wanted to hear other peoples opinions and see if there were any stories floating around

Here the ST220's have well over 220hp. So I reckon from a stand still the EK9 would win for sure, but on the highway, where power and drag counts more than weight, I'd reckon the EK9 would have to work pretty hard to keep in front of it.

The 3l V6 also has 204hp over here.

ST24 is pish. They are heavy and slow, its less power than an EK9 and a lot heavier. Try playing with a Focus RS instead.

Who cares? Yes it's a slower car, if you see a guy with his arm out the window on the road do you race him?

Let the guy think his car is fast, hopefully he'll bend it. Street racing is gey.

it wasnt a thread about street racing, and believe me he will eventually plough it into a tree, i've know this guy since i was about 4, he's a dooche and crashed every car he's had

i just wanted to know how a EK9 would perfrom in comparison.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Not all about power to weight as the larger engine will produce more torque throughout the whole rev range which does help acceleration.

In this case, an EK9 is faster then a mondeo ST24.

JT makes sense.

True.

Mate, just wait till u get a 9 and watch as that joker's smug smile slowly disappears and all you can see in your rear view is dust!!!!

Priceless!!!

I understand you think your 9 is quick, but belive it or not there are quicker cars out there mate.

Personally I think it'll be neck and neck if the 9 had mods, but at the end of the day the V6 will cream a 9 as the torque will be greater.

Have u actually been or driven or even raced a mondeo v6? If you had you wouldn't be saying that. They are nice and torque and good on the motorway but it would get out accelerated by an ek9.

Chalk & cheese comparing an EK9 & ST24...

The ST is a cruiser....tall gearing & lazy 2.5 V6 making ~170BHP

Out & out power is similar to an EK, but the lack of weight & short gearing would give the EK a healthy advantage in a straight-line driven flat-out

No contest on the twisties

Ek9 specs, 0-62 in 6.8 sec (also heard 5.7 or 6.1 sec)
with 185hp and a weight of 1090kg top speed 235kmh or 146mph

st24 specs, 0-62 in 7.7 sec (also heard 7.5 or 8.0 sec)
with 174HP and a weight of 1323kg top speed 136 or 139 depending on source!

problem solved. Also the lack of a LSD and stiffer body that the ek9 has.

I had an ST24 at the start of this year, and it was pretty quick, with lowered suspenion and 17" wheels and an induction system. The only problem I had with the car was the size of it, it would hang on in very high speed corners but seemed to lose out on tight slow speed corners. Just after selling it I owned a Saxo VTS which was much faster up to about 120mph, but did lose out on top end speed.. at the moment my 1.5i LS has some way to go, but it will get there :)
