http://www.torque-imports.co.uk/cardetails.php?c=17 , apologies if this is in the wrong section, but I am a newbie! Having trouble deciding on an EP3 or EK9, what are peoples thought on this Spoon modified EK9 from Torque-imports.co.uk? Looks a very tidy car, is the EK9 really that good? £9.5k for a 9year old car, must point out that I havnt been in one yet & a test drive for this is 3hrs away!

Interested to know if peoples white 9's get too much attention from jealous vandals? Having to drive into London sometimes I would like to be able to park up and not worry about it!

I would want to stay n/a, is this car a good base for that mod wise? what mods would you do next? (usage:not a daily driver/fast road/5 trackdays per year) I have been studying the forum for a while so I have some rough ideas! Many thanks.

best thing to do is test drive both cars, ek9 isnt to lots of peoples taste (have to drive it hard and rev it high to get anything out if it, will out handle uk ep3 but lacks ep3 torque which lot prefer hence test drive of both is best)
but ek9 is an enthusiasts car

the 1 you posted is bare version so manual windows, no airbags, steering wheel is some nasty one, no ek9 mats

the carpet, door cards and rear seats will be from low end ek9 (intended to be stripped by buyers), hard to tell what front seats are as the car comes with basic ek seats as intended owners fit own seats so that has had them changed, maybe recaros maybe not but theyve been clever with the pics

id personally love that and would just strip it, wheels are also cheap rota which is shame on car like that, spoon mods which arent amazing but tidy the car up and suggest to me it has been tracked but maybe wrong

thanks, steering wheel is hideous..

That is not the stock steering wheel at all. The cheapest "race base" ek9 will have an ek4 style steering wheel but that steering wheel is defenately not stock. Normal ek9's get a very nice SRS Momo 3 spoke wheel.
Its your choice to buy a modded car or not, those are a lot of spoon parts but you may still end up wanting better parts or different wheels, stock bushings, ect. FULL polyurethane bushings (as claimed on that ek9) is definately not ideal.
The ek9 has a lot of potential with NA, turbo, or motor swap setups.

Otherwise there have been many threads discussing "why the ek9 vs. newer type-r, what should I expect" threads.

if you reall intend to race the car then get that one, if you plan to drive it on the street, then get a regular ek9.

I second that, that is a ek9 race base, so it will not be confortable for daily drive.

:nice:

I have a EK9 and have had no trouble in london apart from admirers looking through the windows, most people dont know what it is so it shouldnt be a problem. I have driven both cars and I would say the EP3 is better for around town because of the torque but for fun and excite ment you cant beat the ek9, it just wants you to thrash it and then when you have finished threashing it it wants more, that and off the lights you will leave an ep3 for dust. I am selling my ek9 if you want to look at one let me know.

bit pricey isnt it??my ek9 on same year and 59,000 miles cost me £7,995 and its in better nick

What a whorey job on the speedo, are all of yours like that over there because of the import laws?
