EK9 - Spoon Fix damper and Progressive Springs Review

Hey Kozy, bumping the thread from the dead, but im looking at getting this damper/spring setup for my ek.

I dont plan on tracking the car so its more of a fast road setup, also due to my ridiculous drive i cant do the super low on coil over approach. How are these holding up ion your car since you fitted them? will i get my moneys worth.

Thanks, Dan

Holding up very well actually, I am still majorly impressed by them as a fast road setup, everything said here still holds very true, it is probably one of the best setups I have experienced it terms of composure over uneven surfaces, if not offering quite the turn in sharpness or roll resistance of more focussed track suspension, but these are traits commonly over emphasised for road use. The ride height is perfect too, since swapping from the previous -40mm setup I haven't bottomed it out on anything nor scraped the bumper. If you need clearance, these are good.

I'll may be looking to upgrade to something more focussed later this year, but only as the car will be retired from daily driving and used soley for track driving. The amount of grip offered by R compound tyres, and aggressive geometry calls for a stiffer setup to combat the roll it experiences during competition events, although if it wasn't for this kind of use I would see absolutely no need to change it whatsoever.

10/10, definately recommended. :nice:

Thanks for the fast reply, thats exactly what i wanted to hear. I would probly be looking at purchasing in a few months as the cheapest i have found them so far is around £850ish i think. If you decide to sell do drop me a pm!

I was going to follow the more aggressive track setup but i dont think the car will see enough track use to justify it, so im aiming to build a usable road car. hoping to pickup a solid EJ/ek this weekend then to start buying things on my list.

Still cant decide between a B18c setup or building a b20 setup.

Yes they are expensive new, I can't say whether they are worth the extra over good condition EK9 dampers though as I haven't tried them.

Out of B18C/B20, I would go B18C, but that's only because I have a habit of murdering B series engines. :D

Feels firm but in an OEM way if that makes sense. Not crashy like cheap coilovers are.
