Hi like the way things are looking....What products did you use to clean the manifold is you dont mind me asking?

My Toda manifold? I used at first wd40 and Emory tape to start with. Then for final clean Laser tools do a polishing kit that I used.

Dude stupid question for ya but your engine bays always clean what do you use to clean it? Mines supposed to be white but its black an id say it has been for the last 20 years at least

What would you recomend

Not stupid at all! I found that the engine bay of mine over the years had become greasy with oil and just general gunk.
I used alloy wheel cleaner to clean off the gunk, then used a rapid detailer to shine it up.
Be careful using the alloy wheel cleaner though as it's an acid, I did a small area at a time.
Hope this helps :nice:

Had a good day with the car today! I sorted out some gauge wiring in the dash that needed tidying up, as I thought this was the route of my gauge problem.... but it wasn't!
Fitted my carbon fuel pump cover that I got for Xmas, and then went for a drive over to my dads.

Also visited my old work to say hello and quickly set up my headlamp aims!

And fitted this cool sticker my brother in law got me for Xmas.

And I also bought a couple of my own ek9.org stickers for the wing :p
Got just over 210 miles on the engine now! Not long till more boost!

Need some advice on gauges though, my water and oil temp gauges are racetech which are a budget gauge and they just don't work properly.
Can anyone recommend a decent gauge set up? Or have any for sale that aren't stupidly expensive?

And also does anyone know where the fuse for the front washer pump is on an ek9? I seem to have no washers and no feed at the pump.

Have your tried adding an extra earth to your sensors? My water temp gauge needs 1 earth to the gauge and then another earth from close to the sensor attached to ground.
My oil temp just stopping aswell.

Got a brand new stack temp gauge here and used dual spa design temp/pressure if its any interest to you mate.

Yeh man I've tried that, I've tried pretty much every trick in the book. I think it's just a poor gauge.
Bummer as it's brand new!

i looked through almost all 43 pages. Man keep up the good work on your car. I'm in the process of posting my build thread. For my engine bay...i dont know if you guys have purple power over where you guys are @. But i used that diluted 1:4 and its pretty much cleaned everything off. Especially since i dont have fender liners and a splash guard, its gets bad under the bay when it rains. Where the Radiator Front portions of my frame where the radiator support is, is pretty much thrashed with wet spots that just wont come off. Ive tried my cleaner and clay it off nothing seems to work. Any how the car looks good ill follow along as you go!

Thanks very much dude :D

Absolutely love the build and attention to detail.

I signed up only so that I could be active and comment on this build thread, I do however have a question for OP @B16Swt -

I'm running my own B18C7 (AUDM Type R) in an EK Civic shell that I've been having serious thoughts about turboing (have a T2871R ball bearing ready to go if I can get my **** together). Having bought the car bone stock with a D16 I've absolutely loved the opportunity to make this car "mine", in that the conversion and all modifications have been done in my possession by myself.

Without writing too much, I guess my question is have you ever looked back and thought you could have spent your money on buying something simply better right out of the factory - i.e R32/33GTR, Evo 6-8 etc? I'd imagine you would be walking over any stock variant of just about any other Japanese power house, but do you ever feel like you're in too deep? I absolutely love my little B-series but the last thing I want to do is look back in 2-3 years and think I could have spent it more "wisely".

On topic though, I absolutely love this build, I'm going to use a lot of things from this build in my Civic.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for looking and reading my build thread! Glad you like it, and that it's an inspiration to your build! Get a build thread up :nice:

In terms of could I have bought a "better" car for the money? Yes I suppose I could of, BUT any old Fred can go out and buy an evo, Nissan GT-R or any off the self fast car, and yeh it would be fast and a lot easier etc but I'm very much into the built not bought mentally. I've always wanted to build, modify (turbo) a car, and I have been lucky enough to do so, and I've learn't a lot of valuable skills along the way that help me in my day to day job.
I don't regret what I've done to the car one bit, and I don't feel like I'm in too deep or it's a burden. I don't think you can have that mentality when modifying a car.

Also in my opinion, you can't get a "better" car than a turbo ek9.
As @robthedoc said they're as cool as penguin piss

That's awesome. I'm also very much into the built not bought mentality. Especially as my first ever car, and first modified car it really opens your eyes and allows for a different sense of appreciation for these sorts of cars.

I look forward to strapping it down at some point, I'm in the midst of deciding what internal bits and pieces to buy so I'm hoping I can get stuck into it soon. Unfortunately I'm not too savvy with the building part of things, I wish I could sit down and pull the motor apart myself and do it, but being my daily it can't be off the road for too long.

I need to buy a daily :p.

P.S - I see you've found my build thread already :D

For me its building something that shouldnt be that powerful and making it so but its as much the journey and the lessons you learn along the way.
For those that have been in a 350+hp ek civic theyll know they really arent slow lol
