EK9 Race Base Info

Well,

I don't know if I am in the right section, or if this has been posted already..

I'm seeing a good few EK9 Race Base's pop up lately. It makes me sceptical to say the least.

I thought that they came with no power steering, recaro's, airbags, abs, elec windows, aircon, single crank pulley etc. They have a grey shitty steering wheel and gearnob, grey dash and carpet, and shitty 1.4 spec doorcards and seats.

Thing is Ive seen a lot of variations in the spec, some with power steering, aircon etc. Maybe they are like the normal EK9 and the spec was determined on purchase. Who know's really..?

So I rang my local Honda dealer and got them to enter my Chassis Number into their system and it came up as an EK9 Race. So thats probably the best way to determine if its real or not..
 
Yup, the only real way to check is the VIN. I've heard people use the "race base" term when talking about an EK9 with all the delete options ticked. Also some may have a race base and then kit it out with some of the nicer options. Hard to tell now they're 11+ years old.
 
The EK9 N1 came with **** all of any value as it was far cheaper that way as it was primarily bought by race teams who just ripped all the niceties out anyway.....there also came with steel wheels too
 
mine has no pas,abs,airbags,elec windows,air con. has basic ej interior, no tints, steel wheels.. tis fun :D
 
i believe about 50kg, it comes in at 1040kg according to le specs.
 
Shame they didn't make a race base in the dc2.

I was told that it was an extra to remove parts.... Its not a race base if it was a RACE type it would have all the good bits but with out the extras ie air con lecy windows etc it just doesnt make sense......

I just checked and your right, it does have 5stud setup.
I would of thought that Honda would have replaced the 5 stud setup with 4 stud to save unsprung weight.
 
i have a ek9 it was advertised as lightweight the guy didnt realy know alot about it but i have learned alot
mine dont have electric windows or retracable mirrors or abs or air bags and no slam bars you know the alloy bars on the front and rear behind the bumper it has like mini strut braces
but i do have power steering so and ek9 wheels and red recaro's so maybe they were optional extra's but its still realy light what you guys think ???
 
Mine is similar. no ABS, no Airbags, no power windows or folding mirriors. However it does have the red carpet/recaros/doorcards with red material, and black plastic throughout, as opposed to the grey ej style interior. Have also had honda check the chassis number and comes up as Race aswell.

I have 5 stud fitment, also the spare wheel is a skinny space/weight saver!!

ive just posted some pics up in members rides of mine, as it stands it is a bog standard race base!
 
Well its a rolling shell project and I collect on Saturday. It's got a b18c, s4c box, roll cage etc
Just needs a few panels and bits to be complete. I'm getting a wilwood set up off freaky parts, some coilovers, and eventually flog the b18c and fit a b18c4 and boost it agaib. This is a replacement for my Eg6 turbo which was recently stolen and broken :(

Oh well bigger and better things!
 
Would be a good way for people to make more money on their ek9s just say its a race base and sell all the parts. lol

Be good if the made a race base on the new type R's would be more affordable to general public.
