EK9 Airbox Mod

DC2 airbox is a better deisgn definately

It is basically a cone filter enclosed in a sealed box, once you add a big air feed to the underside you basically have a DIY mugen intake but at a fraction of the price

My airbox and airfeed will be for sale but not till later in the year once I change to Jenveys :nerv:

Whoops didnt know that, Thanks Steven! I want first dibs on your set up please??!!:nice:

It's been mentioned above how to remove the supper resonator, can either DIY it or buy a spoon direct flow pipe, tegiwa now make replicas of this item too........

The cold air feed everyone refers to is to replace the standard lower resonator

On the underside of your airbox there is a hard pipe that runs down and under the chassis leg to the inner wing area behind the front bumper, here it feeds off a large white box (the resonator) and then comes back up into the engine bay, the fluted tube you see to the left of your airbox

Rip out all this resonator and plastic below your airbox and fit suitably sized ducting to feed air from where the resonator box was

:nice:cheap but interesting mod

:wow:
HELLO EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR THE INFO!
HERE IS MY AIRBOX MOD... (B16A STOCK AIRBOX)
LOWER RESONATOR: NEVER HAD IT.
UPPER RESONATOR: REMOVED
AIRBOX: K&N FILTER
45 DEGREE 75MM OR 3'' (PP OR PVC) PIPE , SOME 3MM FOAM INSULATE AND BLACK TAPE. FOR AN ELBOW. ALSO THREE BRACKETS FROM BENDED METAL SHEET 0.75MM TO HOLD THE BOX IN PLACED.
SOME MORE 45 DEGREE 75MM PIPES FROM THE HOLE OF THE FOG LIGHT (FROND BUMPER)TO THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR BOX TO GET COOL AIR.
=ABOUT 15 EUR AND 3 OURS OF WORK.
RESULTS: NEVER HAD THE LOWER RESONATOR SO I MUST SAY THAT REMOVING THE REST OF THE AIRBOX = STRONGER SOUND FROM THE ENGINE AT MID-HIGH REVS ,MAYBE SOME GAINS AT MID RANGE .
YES I KNOW ENGINE BAY NEED SOME CLEANING. MAYBE AT SUMMER !

Thanks for sharing mate. Could you please not use the caps lock? Makes it less readable. I would suggest to try and close the gap between the box and the pipe that runs from the front of your bumper.

sorry about caps!
I didn't close it cause i was afraid of rainy days.I ll maybe shorten the intake pipe when closing the gap between the box and the pipe in order not to suck direct from the hole of the fog light?!(something like mugen's airbox pipe)
I ll do the experiment . thanks a lot!
