hey guys, i did check but had no joy as i guess ek3`s are quite rare these days but here goes... i`m about to do a b swap into my ek3 (1998 1.5ils non vtec) and im on a pretty tight budget, so i`ll have to take it easy as i`ll be running on rear drums until i can sort this out but.. what parts do i need to do a rear disk conversion and off what car do i need to take them from?? a million thanks to those that can help!!!

Hey im actually removing my rear disc conversion of my ek3 to sell today lol,

You need:
Ek4 vti trailing arms
Handbrake cables from ek4/ek9
Brake lines
242mm calipers/discs/pads
ABS sensors if you have ABS

You can use the cambers/toe and lower control arms from you Drum setup.

cheers buddy, do you know what car i need to rip apart to get the parts?? or do i need to source them individually??

This guy has offered to sell you everything you need!!! And your asking him where to get what you need from???

yeh it was a retard question in one respect lol, but im skint so i can`t buy it and im sure it`ll bee gone by the time i have the cash...

Sorry man, I know that what I'm going to say is something you may not like, but putting B series into an EK3 while keeping standard EK3 brakes on for ANY period of time is damn suicidal. I have an EK3 and the brakes are crap and can barely keep up with the 115 bhp D series, I managed to fry them a few times and it really didn't need much. What about starting the other way round, brakes first and THEN the engine? Or, better still, why not save up, keep driving the EK3 for another year and buy an EK4? If the car is mint you should get close to a grand for it (if its still stock, otherwise less) and if its not mint than its probably not worth using it for an engine swap anyway. I honestly can't imagine anyone driving with the horrible EK3 brakes and an engine pushing out 160bhp+...

thing is the car isn`t mint but i have a baby on the way (1st of june :nerv: lol) so money is tight and i`ll be doing bit by bit and tbh most vti`s are shagged or have rusty arches, i spent close to a year trying to find one close to me and no joy so i got my ek3 thats only got light surface rust but mint underneath so im going to save it and turn it into a monster plus the engine iv got is better than the vti, its the JDM spec 170bhp sir ii. i`ll just keep an eye out when i get a bit of cash and do the con its no biggie but cheers for the advise pal.

You nees to converet rear brakes..

two rear tailing arms,
cailpaers, pads, disks
wheelbearings,
handbrake cables
brake pipes hoses,
upgade brake servo & master cyclinder(ek4,ek9)

done it to my bro's saloon good job..
make sure wheelbearings are ok and bushes/brake pads ect

EK3 brakes are not that bad maybe you should have a look at yours

The EK3 all ready has 262mm front brakes

I have been running a C4 in mine with the rear drums and 282mm fronts and it stops on a penny
The rear brakes dont do that much

I would advise to upgrade the front brakes first !

this is good news!! cheers pal. if i could get a con kit for a good price when i`ve actually got cash then id be happy to buy it but until then i shall just upgrade as u said and go from there. u sir are a topman!!

Ek4 vtis run 262 calipers up front, same as ek3, even with drums the brake bias means the fronts do most of the braking so the setup doesnt differ to much. I think the ek3/ek4 master cylinder is the same 15/16.

A good setup is to do

Ek4 vti 242mm rear brakes,
282mm Prelude/ mgzs180 front brake setup
1" master cylinder from teg/ek9

and maybe a proportional valve from a full disc setup car, ie ek9/ek4. There are a number of ways to do the setup etc, using ek9 brakes, rover brakes, teg etc but the way i have listed is a fairly non expensive way.

Rear brakes do more than you think, if you are doing 282s up front put the 260s on the rear to keep the brake bias near stock, otherwise you might find yourself locking up front brakes very early and risk increasing stopping distances.

This is probably a long shot but my rear drivers side brake line that feeds into the drum needs replacing on my EK3 so was wondering if you did your conversion after and had any EK3 rear drum brake parts left over??

The part number from Honda is PFKL621754 PIPE COMP. E, R. BRAKE.

Picture as attached and I am after figure no 8

Cheers :)
