Just heard disturbing news from a mechanic i kno. Not sure if i believe him yet until i confirm with honda and probably go feckin mental at them!!

He says he got told at honda western that all ek shapes had a recall for all new quarters, etc free of charge. Had to go before 2010! It was because poor metal was used. Definatly explains all ek's rottin too easy if not treated.

totally raging if true like!! Anyone else hear this?

Haha, I think it's a joke man. It's a good one though.

That would be funny to see some of the cars coming out of the body shops, crappy paint jobs ect, but still gutting if true :/
Will see if I can find out anything from my old work on Monday :)

A kno mate thts what am thinking. No reason for my mate russell to lie or joke or anythin. He said he took his sons civic jordan to honda to price new quarters at western honda and thts when they told him!! wld be mayhem if true!

Surely if it was true it would either 1, make some sort of news or 2, owners would be given letters to inform them of said recall

Thats what i was thinking. But russell says it was only th original owners tht were meant to hav bern informed. Defo would hav heard it on here before surely!!

I wouldn't think its true tbh. Not calling your mate a bull shitter by any means. But for them to make a recall on this would cost them a fortune. Not sure on honda's but vw's have a paint a body perforation warranty for 12 years and my mates golf gti's front wings rusted and it was 10 years old and they found a way around it. Basically. Cars come with warranty but manufacturers have so many loop holes in them that they can get around the warranty.

Yea it does sound too good to be true but there was a massive recall on mercs a wile ago and my mates dads merc E class got a full respray on a recall. So if they hav dne it then why not honda

I doubt they'll take back a Japanese import though. It will most likely be in the "loop hole" category lol.

There was a recall for the 1998 MB civic 5dr and the 1998 accord but it wasn't for the ek civic. After an inspection of the arches, depending on the level of corrosion, the car got complete quarter panels or the panels were repaired in sections. If there was no corrosion the arches would get wax oiled inside and out. The recall was for swindon built cars only.

I heard this thread a few years back, its only if you have had you car checked and proven service history. I.e if your car hasn't been for its anticorrosion checked every so often see owners handbook then this is void. So i take it guess that is 99.9% of hondas lol

Took my FN2 back for a known corrosion issue above the windscreen. Honda only checked the service history after the repair work had been done :D they'd already agreed with me it was covered under warranty and completed the work before they realised I didn't have a full set of stamps :p
