EBC brake discs

I'm on the lookout for a new set of front discs as my current ones are warped. The car will be used on the road and track so the brakes will be getting a fair bit of punishment.
I've bought a set of EBC Yellowstuff pads and I'm going to go with a set of EBC discs. I've been told the Turbogroove discs are brilliant but I'm just wondering whether theres much difference in performance between them and the Ultimax disc that they also sell.
Also, just out of interest, will the grooved/dimpled discs eat pads? Or will the wear not be too terrible?

Cheers :nice:

I've heard that the EBC yellowstuff pads give stupid amounts of brake dust, but not sure on the disks tbh, did you not look a the freaky parts discs? are they rated?

I had spoke to a few mates who've used the yellowstuff pads before I bought them, and they had all ben saying how good they were etc, as far as I'm aware they're not too bad for dust..
I'll check out the freakyparts discs, main problem is trying to find 282mm discs in 4x100 stud pattern!

Ive had ebc discs on a previous car and they lasted about 3 weeks and they got warped, the grooved discs ive had (not ebc) were bang on but the pad were was quite fast and you do get some noise with them aswell ,from my experance:))

I've had a pair of ultimax disks on the front of mine for almost 18months which I've been using with yellowstuffs. Done about 12 trackdays since then I think and they now look like they're overdue replacing (LOTS of heat fractures and the grooves are looking very shallow). But I've never had a wobble from them despite seeing some serious heat.

I'm going racing this year and I'm definitely going to replace the disks with another pair of Ultimax. Might go with something a bit more performance orientated for pads, but might stick with yellowstuffs as they're not that far behind DS2500 and find them a lot less dusty and less hard wearing on the disks.

Agree the ds2500 do wear the discs quite alot, but good bite and perform well

Thanks a lot for that clockwork, think I'll go for the Ultimax discs! What's the pad wear like with them? Heard grooved discs can chew pads up pretty badly.

TBH I would steer clear of EBC man I have been through 2 sets pads and discs, mid you they were green stuff pads, both sets warped and that was my ej9!. I would suggest Carboteck pads, pricey but you can put them through hell and back and they would be perfectly fine, not that much brake dust, howvever they squeek a little before they are warmed up.

Give me a shout on what you want and I should be able to sort out a deal.
I'd actually say go for Mtec discs. I run them on my car and sell a lot of sets to guys on here, itr-dc2, the celica club and other Jap forums and they're all really pleased with them... and they're about 1/2 the cost of EBC discs!
I can also supply DS2500 pads too if you wanted a set.

Honda discs Stevie boy. That's what I always used on my civic, think they cost me about £18 :)

Not sure if Honda will do discs in my size and stud patten Duns, will give them a phone tomorrow and see
Freakyparts I'll have a think and get back to you :nice:

honda wont list 282mm 4x100,i got a set of the mtec grooved in 282mm 4x100 but yet to fit them,as "freakyparts" mentioned lots of people running them with good feedback.
im running ebc blanks at the moment and they are ok for normal driving i suppose.

dont think you will get oem honda discs for under £20 like some people have mentioned :secret:

Hard to say as the car doesn't see many road miles. Think I get 3 or 4 trackdays out of them but tbh I don't take too much notice. I just buy a set of pads as spare when they're looking a bit low and then change them when I'm a getting a bit close to the metal.

but yeah, if the MTECs are £50 cheaper and come recommended I'd give them a shot first and see how you get on.
