Long shot I know and maybe not that many around as it is?

I guess the best way would be to get an agent to source one from Japan, but the Yen is stronger than the £ at the moment and may work out a bit expensive!?

Gee, they dont come along that often but i can say with a few simple mods the EK9 with the B16B can also be very fast mate, believe me...... Remember the B16B is only around 13BHP short of the B18C with some less torque too mite i add, but with lightened flywheel, exhaust/ good intake and 4.2.1 mani your going to pretty much match it..........

Start messing around with gearing also then you will be beating B18c EK9..... Also you can just stroke out your B16B into a B18C by changing to ITR crank as well as rods....

Obviously would be better off starting with B18c.......

Exactly, LOL

The B18C has less torque than the standard motor? Dam!

Why is a B18C EK9 capable of dragging and sometimes beating stock Evo's with only an extra 15hp? There must be more to it?

Whats the difference between the two engines? I would like to know as i am getting an EK9 as my next car in a years time, so gathering all the info i can :)

b18c has more torque than a b16b
about 10-15 lbft more iirc

come over to ireland and il find you one:nice:
heres my ek9 which was a match for the itr just to show you the mods you would need to do to a b16b

So your saying a stock EK9 is slower than a DC2?

Dam..

Dam..
it is of course, bearing in mind that both are healthy, the torque of the dc2 is the factor...the dc2 doesnt weigh any/much more than it either

its all about the bends in an ek9,get the speed up and keep it up through the bends

i dnt find my ek9 with i/h/e much slower than my old dc2, or other dc2's around here,
dc2 pulls harder at higher speeds tho

intake header exhaust:nice:

i have modified air box, with k&n panel filter, seeker 4-2-1 mani, fujitsubo power getter exhaust.

lol gee i meant the B18c has a bit more torque then B16B, but were talking about 10-15BHP/lbs of torque here and there.... I mean yeah makes a difference but jeez, not crazy differences. Ive had a go with a JDM DC2 running an exhaust and intake when mine had the same and he was marginly quicker, and his best time was a 14.2 up the quarter mile......

The extra torque will help to build revs up before Vtec a bit better but wont effect the stright line performance one both are in power band, that will be due to extra BHP not torque.....

Dont get me wrong i would definitely rather the B18c as the simple reason of, why the hell not? lol, bit more power! But i wouldnt move heaven and hell to find one.....

gear ratio/fd alterations are best bang for buck imo, as long as you dont do lots of motorway driving.
far cheaper and more effective than buying a b18c

Hi Jimbo, thing is your B16B was producing 10BHP less then stock 185 and your B18C was producing around what it should of around 197 so would you say thats the best comparison as one engine is evidentally healthy then the other?

Have you read the whole of that post???
I wouldnt think there are many 60,000 mile EK9's still producing the 185bhp it had when new! & the B18C i put it had around the same mileage!
Both engine's were & are in decent nic, comp tested befor putting them on the dyno!
Plus i belive it to be a bit of a low reading dyno!

I keep hearing this, look's like im going to have to buy a 4.9 F/D over xmas!

but at the end of the day there are some out there producing 185BHP stock(or around) so that will never be a completely fair comparison....

Im not argueing buddy im just saying.....

there will also be some B18C that are under powered...... And if you were to compare that particular one against a healthy 185BHP B16B then there would be no difference at all... You see what i mean?
