thanks for the really quick response. I was after more technical differences though:) Like the PS pump etc. I would like to have my car converted to an EK9 spec

I`m not sure wether they use different steering pumps, but if you want a closer feel of the EK9 steering then you should get the steering rack as well which is shorter than the EK4`s.

Right!! Unfortunately the left hand drive civics are doomed to have one of the worst racks ever in terms of feedback, weight and quick response.
I have done plenty of things so far to increase the feedback and weight but still the results are not satisfactory. Lower the car thus camber and castor increase, coilover installed, aftermarket pulleys, sporty tyres (reduced plus firmer tyre sidewalls), bigger swaybars (26F 24R). Still the result is mediocre. The sad thing is that the ek9 or dc2 rack is not interchangeable to eudm left hand drive civics, and quaife doesn't provide a kit for ek civics while maintaining power steering.

I like how heavy the steering wheel is on our ej9`s!! Sometimes it feels like there`s no p/s but in higher speeds it doesn`t feel like you`re on air; but they`re slow to respond. If you want firm sidewalls, try the re 010`s, have them nearly a year now and going to use them again!!!:nice:

That is correct about swapping the DC2 subframe. Have seen it done myself on a EG civic

I am aware of the quickener but i am not so sure about its reliability. Swapping the subframe is going take the cost very high including the new rack. The steering feedback as it is now is way much better in comparison to stock. Still i want it to be heavier and even more responsive. If you have driven cars with really good steering you would agree with me. Imagine that my nissan pulsar n15 has better steering feedback and weight despite being totally stock. The same goes for peugeot rallyes as well.

While turning or as the speed increases the feedback and weight are very good. The main problem is while you are near the straight. There it is almost dead

I can completely agree with that since going from my DC2 to my friend's USDM EJ6 was a very scary experience. I thought the steering hub was coming loose!!

I can't say I've had the opportunity to drive those cars you listed for a comparison, but I know that even supposedly lesser economy cars such as the Mazda Protege 5 wagon has steering feedback better than my DC2-R.

The quickener is used by a good friend of mine who posted on that thread ("rotten" is his username) and he's been rallying with it for a long time. He's reported no issues if that inspires a bit more confidence for others thinking to try this mod.

to be honest bigger swaybars can do miracles. When i swapped the ek9 26mm front and especially the asr kit in the rear i saw great improvement, especially when turning angles and speed increase. But this is just physics.
Does the quickener burden stock rand ends?

p.s. i have already installed energy bushings which amend the feedback issue.

A final question as i didn't have the chance to drive any ek9 or dc2. How is the total weight and steering feedback in comparison to peugeot rallyes let's say, which are the benchmark in this field? I reckon that there are many members here that used to have both cars.

Where does that steering quickener fit on the column? Looks interesting and probably cheaper than the £520 2.2LTL rack I have seen. I seriously need to reduce the turns LTL for autotesting.

The only burden it really puts on the system is the stock P/S pump and cooler. Some have opted to upgrade the cooler with a bar and type found on automatic trans coolers and to reduce foaming, the ports on the pump themselves have to be opened up to allow for the fluid to flow properly.

Kozy: re-read the link I posted up.

thanks..
Another question. Is the N1 version steering, smaller in comparison to the regular one?

ive never been able to find precise info but whats detalied difference between ek4 and ek9 front subframe ?

i have ek9 rack ready to go on my ek4 but also have ek9 subframe that ill probably fit as well, i already run rear ek9 subframe/arb on my ek4 but wamt to know differences in ek9 subframe

The Steering Wheel Ek9 with Airbag is it Bolt on for Civic Ek4 98 ????

Thanks.
