hi if i have atandard ej9 dails and want to put a higher rpm to make them look like type r's is this possible all help greatly aprecaited
thanks

I do believe he means 'dials' not dails.. if so yes i believe all ek9/ek4/vi-rs, etc dials are plug and play!

Feel free to correct me if im wrong anyone :D

ho bra i no catch on wa tryin fo say. lol what are you trying say? you want swap out the cluster? or u want your car rev high like type r?

sorry for not explaining properly wha i mean is the dial face on myej9 clocks only go to 8 or 9 grnd on the rev dials and the type rs go to ten or something dont they? if i was to get aftermarket dials like plasma glow ones or something and getthe ek9 type r ones which would have a higher rev reading and put them in wouldnt this be reading the wrong rpm? and if so how could i make it read the right rpm with the new dial face??
thanks all

Im afraid youve got this all wrong. Changing your dial or adding a an extra number in the rpm face like youre saying, wont make your engine revv any higher at all. I think thats what youre trying to say. Also, I dont think thats a good idea because taking the cluster apart will likely give you wrong readings.

I would advise you to leave that alone and purchase a used cluster from either an ek9, ek4, siR, etc. Those are all plug and play and wont affect the mph and the rpm readings.

naw man iknow it wouldlnt cahnge how i my car reved that would be down to ecu mapping ect but what i mean is if i did that my clocks wouldnt read upto the rv i have had set so could i not then just put type r dail faces in??
is that bit better to understand sorry just hardto explain but nw you pointed that out i can kinda put you in the direction i ment thanks

the rpm wouldn't read wrong, it would just not be able to rev up to the maximum shown on the new dials as you'd just bounce off the limiter!

so then if i had my ecu remaped to rev higher it would all work as shud and read higher rpm correctly???

yeah, just make sure you have supporting mods (valvetrain etc) that will allow you to rev higher safely!

The EJ9 will struggle to rev past 8k so absolutely no point raising the limiter

there only ej9 dails putting b18c4 in so obviously wont struggle to rev that high otherwise i wouldnt be bothering my arse to do the mod

and dont see point in paying for type r dials as way expensive and thoght this would be way round it

Sure rev limiter on the b18c4 oem ecu is 8200 iirc... why not go for a set of vti clocks they look pretty decent and can be got for small money...

sorry people for not explaining properly by the way even batered my own head lol.
vtec6000 i would do this matey but av started building ek9 from a shell sorced all the ek9bits my donar ej didnt have so everything is as the ek9 was ment to be but dont wana have to pay the money on the clocks getting close to end of the budjet lol.
