i am thinking to replace my stok cams with ctr cams-spring -reatainers ...i m running mostly stock with a j's racing intake.. it will be fine if i run this cams with stock ecu-compression-fuel pressure???? how much power gain i ll have??
:thanks:

with the extra air flow provided by using the ctr cams your going to need some extra fuel especially towards top end. The likes of apexi vafc will do fine to add some fuelling but you will need a wideband to tune it properly yourself or get a tuner to set it up for you.

worth to buy apexi vafc and harness for obd2b or its better to buy an PCT ecu?? if i replace my stock cams and waiting to save same money for a hondata s300 i 'll have problem with car's reability?

I wouldnt bother. Buy a good exhaust manifold and decat instead.

As matthew says, not really worth it, you will need extra compression and proper tuning to get any realistic gains from doing this

I would not say not worth it, i got those cams, well similar(ITR), and got some nice useable power to 9000rpm (~192hp fly) with basic mods.............................................
and a decent tune up :)
In fact i cut alot of fuel in vtec from default, factory seems to dump too much fuel and gets worse as you add cams...someone correct me here.

I used Power-FC and also E_manage, both requried minus fuel.

Its a good upgrade but i dont really see the need to change the valve springs fore those cams

But get the car tuned properly is way more important in my opinion

You will be needing to change springs as type R motors use dual springs on BOTH inlet/exhaust sides, the B16A2 only uses on one side, inlet iirc

Good idea to use the dual springs on exhaust side also as you will be revving slightly higher with these. I have seen good gains with using these cams on a b16a with I/H/E and a tune using apexi vafc so not a waste of time IMO.

i dont want to have the best results in a dyno.. i just want a reliable and a little bit faster car...on the other hand i dont have enough money for full tuning but i can find cams and ecu from ek9 in good price....what about reliability off my car if i run this mods and an skunk2 pro IM later??

Thats expensive though, and the original poster just said about putting them in a standard engine with no management.

If you have IHE and are going to buy management, then a b18c4 bottom end would be a more worthwhile purchase and would make the car faster and more scope for improvement.

did not what make another tread. dose ctr cam shaft have part number on them? could any one tell me it thanks for help on this :thanks:

Camshaft, intake -14111-pct-000 1
camshaft, exhaust -14121-p73-j00 1

Doesn't have to be all that expensive, You can get most parts used including a vafc which often go for 100pounds used or maybe even less if lucky.

if i replace my stock ecu with CPT ecu with this mods it will be run rich??? what about spoon ecu with this mods?? skunk2 pro IM, j's intake ,tb from itr and a head gasket for higher commpresion??? i know reprogramm ecu is the best but i ask for this mods.. thanks

You can slap on all the mods you want and you will be slower than stock - trust me on this. The only thing which increases is your ego and bragging rights. Tune it.

Forget the IM because it won't reap anything beneficial for daily use unless you stay at 9000rpm most of your time.

CTR cams, intake and exhaust + tune up of ECU.

Do your setup. The guys are right, you will want to tune it to see big changes but overall you will notice some changes in the drivability. I currently have skunk 2 stage 1's the old school cams that are a little bigger than CTR's. Not truely tuned but partially with a chipped p28, timing, and cam adjustments while on a dyno.

overall there are flat spots for me simply because I am not tuned properly. Honda ECU's from factory are self tuning so it might be a good idea to run the CTR ecu. Compression is also a factor in getting big resutls. Since the B16A2 is like 10.2 compresion, running a thinner head gasket or milling the head to raise the compression would also ad to the changes you are looking for.

Overall, you could put the cams in with the retainers and springs and call it done, or build up the motor and really see gains.

Thank you all for the direction...now about the compresion what gasket i must use?? i have found a spoon gasket (0.45mm) for a good price.. is that good or i must use thinner gasket for bigger compresion (0.30mm)??
