Hi lads,

Thinking of buying crome ecu for my ek9 just wondering does anyone have this in there car and does it make a substantial difference? Would it be worth getting? All feedback appreciated
Thanks
:nice:

Just make sure the tuner knows what he's doing and you'll be fine.

its just a cheaper option than Hondata altho i know some tuners dont like mapping on crome.

Your better off doing all your 'other' mods first then looking at getting it mapped.

Personally I don't like Crome. it had many bugs a few years back and the fact that John Cui creator of crome has little or no interest in his software anymore says it all.

I "respectfully" disagree with the above.
Programmable ECU/ECM should be one of the first mods if a person is ever considering engine mods...

I am starting as a Computers IT to learn Crome i am already reading the pgmfi forum to learn things i believe after summer i could map myself my own ecu i am thinking to make the copy of the spoon ecu map on my ecu(p30)

my friend has a crome ecu in his ek9 and has s2p2 cams etc and it runs the best, but after reading reviews on other forums, alot of people are saying to stay away form this ecu...

for mapping a standard engine to bolt on mods - ideal

been running my car for a few months mapped on crome and its been spot on :)

I decided against Crome in the end! I am still running standard ecu but think i might just save and buy spoon ecu!

Custom map to your car will be far better than a Spoon ECU

Trust me, i used to run a spoon ECU then had the car mapped on crome, car is far better now. more responsive and powerful, but most of all it's smoother

Crome may not be the best option for everyone though, for me it was the best choice as that is what the tuner up my way uses, for others it may be hondata etc

Really? So like the custom crome map you can map it for what mods you have ie decat exhaust intake etc and get the most potential out of these? It does make sense as the spoon would be a general set map. I dont really know what to do at the minute!

Nice to know you found Crome better than spoon ecu i didnt think there would even be a comparison!

Thanks for the advice an info Steven!

Don't get me wrong, the Spoon ECU is a good mod, i ran it for 2 years on the car and loved it

But you will always be better to get the car mapped properly to suit the mods etc you have, every engine is different and there is no way a spoon ecu will allow you to get the full potential from your car

Agree... i just setting crome..... i got 185whp and 18.3kgF with only B16B piston and B16B cam in my B18C block:woot:

I think Crome is a great option providing its been tuned properly. Believe it or not, its all what 90% setups actually need. There's a huge lack of knowledge out there when it comes to ECU's and tuning with people getting talked into stuff they don't actually need and could of saved money on.

rite on i use crome dealer for years and never had a problem or glitch
the mapin depends on the tuner in my opinion

I tried Crome but it was difficult finding someone decent that could tune it. Went with hondata s300 in the end and was worth every penny! This was on a turbo build though.

Have a chrome ecu if you want to try it it can be manipulated easily so you will notice the gains when tweeked, its what most setups need is a good tuning and chrome is the best bang for your euro only thing i wich it had was ign cut but thats a different story,
