Cop

I have the AEM COP set up in my EK9. It wasn't easy to make the car running right. I spend a entire day in the Dyno, tuning and tuning. Finely we have it and we make 240 Hp in my N/A engine at 93 gas, but we lost torque 152. That sucks.
Feels totally weir in idle. like 1 coil is missing. but it run fine a soon you floor it.
So in my opinion... If you really want to do it and spend the money if up to you.
Just take in consideration the OEM Distributor is just fine for what ever your set up is.

Not true at all buddy. OEM distributor is out dated by todays standards. Coil on Plug is much better over OEM.

My issue going on right now with the setup is that the rywire and AEM EMS are not working together.

Not knowing your setup, I would guess its not setup correctly.

I should know something today from DSR regarding any progress.

Getting closer...the tuner was able to zero in onto the issue and should have it up and running later next week. In uncharted territories.

Doesn't look like the AEM setup is as plug and play as they make out :(

Jury is still out on that...
Rywire might be the issue, we have yet to rule that out yet, in process of eliminating Rywire currently.

small update:

Rywire did a very nice job, it looks clean, I love it!

The issue we have been dealing with is the timing wandering around on its own. Once fired up we can adjust each coil just fine or even turn them off individually, total control per cylinder. But going up through the rpm's the timing starts to drift around, big headache. We have double checked all coils as well as changed all coils, double checked all of the Rywire connections, rechecked that the ECU is running properly with standard distributor on another ITR at the shop. Everything checks out. One item we can not check is the EPM. We do not know if the EPM is working properly, no idea how to even test it. So we have ordered another one from AEM to try out sometime this week.

Anyone have this issue?

If you lock timing in ecu and hold a rev is timing moving back and forth when checking with timing light?

yes, it is very sporadic at best...

any thoughts as to what is going on? this is why we are thinking the EPM is faulty.

interested to see the outcome here

I have been toying with going for COP ignition in my build but I had fears it would not be as 'simple' and 'reliable' as they advertise

may just stock up on a few OE distributors haha

...i should know more today. :|
Im hoping that its just a faulty EPM...

I have heard of a few people suffering now with these aem epms, Makes me wish I had used the t1 kit.

Uncertain yet, but it seems that there was a bad batch of EPMs from AEM, the first batch. I just might have received one of these bad ones...again, im uncertain at this time...on pins and needles waiting to hear from the tuner.

:nerv:

update: :)

Turns out the original EPM received from Rywire is/was faulty
which thankfully they are replacing. [bought the AEM kit from Rywire, must have been an older batch]

Timing is rock solid now with the new EPM directly from AEM.
The tuner is happy with it and so am I. Onward with the tuning and install!!!

This would have been a plug and play kit if the EPM was not faulty.

More updates to follow.

I can see how this can get a little "wacky" from the image below.
