Im starting to wonder if its a good idea to spend 8k on a 10 year old car?

Can everyone just re asure me and tell me that they never have problems with there Hondas as im really keen but at the same time i dont wana make a really bad decision!!!

Thanks guys!

I would say don't worry mate, if you do the proper job, nothing will happen. Mine is heavily modded and it runs fine even if I drive it to the limit every single day!! I cannot put my hands on fire and promise anything though, your mechanic, most probably will not admit his mistake for a malfunction  EK engines are bullet proff and they accept everything!! :nice:

Why would you want a new car? Sure there are benefits to a new car, but you have payments (probably), way less options for aftermarket parts, different emmissions crap to deal with, a much heavier car, a tighter engine bay just to name a few. An ek9 is rare, there are almost infinate aftermarket parts available, you have options of swapping in a K-series motor, a great suspension design, lots storage room with the rear hatch, and its a very connected to the road, raw sort of car. If you have the chance at one, get it! (plus you could get an ek9 thats only 7 years old)

Hi
Just look for one that's totally standard and i can assure you it will be fine. If you get a recent import there shouldn't be any problems with corrosion.
Also don't try spending as little as poss as these cars sell for quite high money in Japan. You will have to spend £7k (97-98) £8k+ (98-00) to get a good one. If the price is really cheap ask yourself why:nerv:

Failing that why not buy a car off of one of the owners on here that posts alot. You can then look back through all their previous posts to see how the car has been treated and if it ever has broken down.

Oh one other thing, they don't depreciate like a new car.:woot:

Good luck Duncan

the good thing about honda's is this, even if the previous owner drove the car really hard you will still have little to no problems, honda cars really are built to last, do it! :nice:

The B series engines are bullet proof m8. Also, like said, this car is coming to its lowest depreciation time. New cars will depreciate alot more as they.. are brand new really !:)
The ek9 is a still a limited car and will hold its value as years go by :)

Well thats me convinced! Duncan my good man ill be in touch just shortly and hopefully you can get me my shinny new(old) civic lol!
