Coilovers ?????????????

iceman i agree that just about any spring/shock combo will be a downgrade for the ek9, but i still think a koni shock with a coilover sleeve combo with custom spring rates would be a nice combo.

I really am amazed how many of you are willing to offer your help thankyou !!!!
to be honest guys i think coilovers are my best option as i know that the springs will be suited to the shocks where as if i go for a set of shocks and get seperate springs i'm worried that i will not be happy and constantly sell the springs to find to find the right set-up.
i am considering going for the tein - ss ?????
with lower and upper struts front and back and with upgraded rol bars . i think i will onto a winner.

My thoughts. Eibach sportline springs. 50mm drop. Tokico Illumina shocks. Those are 5 way adjustable dampening. No coilover crap. Just springs and shocks all the way. Advantage is the illumina shocks are life time warranty and no coilovers out there offer that.

I have ran this set up on all of my civic's and never had any problems.

Aren't you running coilovers now on your EM1?

You recommend this brand because of the lifetime warranty? How many of you guys buy a car and keep it for a lifetime. I buy some parts and sold it even if i havent installed it yet.. :D

He just posted that he is running with Sportline & Illumina setup on all of his civics.

One of my Koni shocks failed after 1500 miles, you never know what could happen, warranties are nice :D lowered cars often destroy shocks ;)

Nice to hear about that sir. In my case, I buy parts in JP, HK & US then import them here in the Philippines coz its much cheaper the problem is its difficult to claim warranties coz it will cost me alot on the shipping going back to where i bought it.

Honest guys really appreciate the help you're offering.
just trying to take it all in .

Sorry, couldn't tell if you were reiterating what I was saying, or trying to tell me that he isn't running coilovers

Anyways, reason I asked was because I'm almost positive he told me he was running Diayiamas or however you spell it at this very moment! :p

And back on topic, it's entirely up to you buddy, just have a good read around, decide what your budget is, what your aim for the car is, are you going to get camber adjusters, what size wheels you are using, whether you are going to track your car, how back breaking a ride you want  etc

I was just shocked & confused coz he was recommending the seperate shock & spring set up and said he is using that on all of his civics then came your post... Forget about that sir, lets get back to topic..

To TS, I recommend you get a full coilover set up. Yes, its expensive but you wont regret it... :)

At the end of the day, if you have less than £500GBP (~$750?) then leave coilovers and get a good spring and damper combo, as it's likely to be better quality than the cheapest sets of coilovers coming in at that price.

To put it another way, you have £6k to spend on a car, do buy the best you can afford in your price bracket, or the cheapest? Mint EK9/DC2 or ropey S2000? Granted, one might be higher basic spec, but that's no gurantee it's going to be better in the long run.

No wonder those MFactory gearsets are getting more and more expensive... :(

No I am not running coilovers on the em1 of any sort. Shock and spring is just fine for daily driver. I dont need to adjust the height. 50mm drop was just fine.

Yea tokico makes a spring and shock package you can use but I prefur the Eibach sportline springs to tokico's options.

I was planning to stay away from coilovers, because I don't think they are needed for a 99% road car.

However, the EK9 I bought had Cusco Zero II already installed and are very nice and comfy compared to the D2's I had on my old Glanza, so I am happy with them!

Well i am thinking about getting the tein basic dampers and getting some camber adjusters so i keep it all true.....i will eventually upgrade to 16's
