Basically im going to be looking at getting a decent set of coilovers after christmas,im just wondering what to go for around the £500 mark. Before anyone mentions it, i have done my research and have read up on alot of different sets, just wanting a point in the right direction really! I think i have a shortlist for now:

D2's
MeisterR
BC's
Daiyama's

In terms of what im looking for im not really bothered about ride comfort, just wanting a good handling reliable set up...wont be going mega low as edinburgh is ****. Il also be doing the LCA's at the same time.

Any help would be really good, thanks!

MeisterR... running a set on my 9 no complaints, very comfortable, best coily for the cash

i find my d2's to be too hard for every day use. From the reviews ive read meisterR seam a very good buy for the money.

I've had D2's, Ksport and BC's and loved them all! If I had to chose one of them again I'd go with the BC's! :)

Running bc's on mine and they're awesome. Better than my mates meister r's. Not too bad for the roads round edinburgh either

I take it you are going to do trackdays if you need coilovers?
if so have you been around a track with the STD suspension setup?

Ive had D2's and imo they were too hard for everyday and even on track or going for a hack on a good road i found them a chore to deal with. Im running meisters atm and they are perfect for all driving experiences :) The teg handles even more like a dream with these on.

You guys find D2's too hard for road use? You must have them setup really bad then!

I've been in a couple cars with them and due to them being quite poorly damped they feel harsh, but not hard

I found the same in the cars ive been in with them on , When you hit a bump its very harsh but give them any prolonged pressure like round a long corner and they seem quite soft, The apexi's i had with mega springs on could go around a corner for any amount of time and never seem to compress :p

i used a set of MiesterR ZetaS last year, and they were an awesome all-rounder. Great on track with good adjustability, But can also they softened up for long journeys!

If you can stretch the extra cash..............

VERY much worth it

Ran these for about the last 15k miles maybe and they are fantastic. They have realistic damping adjustment (none of your 30 way adjustment nonsense), well made and good on both the road and track

Just about to remove them to replace with an expensive set of track focused coilovers, if the new setup hadn't come up at such a good price i would have continued to run the buddyclubs

As mentioned, the issue with "budget" coilovers is the dampers, they're just not very good quality and you notice it

When you consider the price difference between say a set of D2 and a set of Function Zeals, there is a colosel difference, to look at they are much the same, but it's what you can't see inside them, that's what you pay for :nice:

i had D2's they wasnt harsh and my road are very bad, i had mine set to zero preload so it wasnt harsh. but recently got a car with d2's on and the prev owner had about 1inch of preload this made it feel like i had solid concrete spring and tires, but after setting it up right its perfect.

Once my OEM shocks pack in I will defo be going for a set of these!:)

I have to agree with Steven on the Buddyclub N+, I have recently installed them on my ek9 and they are very good!! The best you can buy for that price range

I will test them out fully on the track next year but I'm certain that they will not dissappoint:nice:

Had D2's on my dc2 when I bought it and they were very poor imo! They felt very crashy on the road and the car rolled alot on the track no matter how hard the damping was set, also when I removed them the shocks had leaked and lost most of their damping and 1 shock was scrap (thats after just over a years use)

I swapped the d2's on my integra for Billstein shocks and neuspeed race springs and they were 100% better on the track and road and they still have full damping

I have this topic up on another forum, and im basically getting the exact same response...

D2's being too hard,BC's being the ones to go for in that price range...but if i can stretch my budget im to get BuddyClubs, which is pretty serious money to be fair!

If you are not doing a bit of trackday driving then go for the BC's as a slightly cheaper option over the Buddyclubs, BCs will also work well on the track tho

I will eventually be doing track days, maybe next year with the d14 just for the fun of it,but will be getting B seried in time,£700 is a hella money for coilovers, worst thing is il have that money...and knowing me il impulse buy them!

Not meaning to sound arsey, but £700 is not alot for coilovers, to be honest i would be a bit wary of anything that cost less than that

I'm with you mate, £700 doesnt seem too bad for a great set of all round coilovers that everyone seems to recommend!:))
