I picked up a 97 ek9 on Saturday, and i have to say i loved every minute of it..

Only issue is after i change into second gear, and when releasing the clutch, there is a clunk/grind noise, every other gear is fine..

Been told it could possibly be the engine mounts???

most probably slightly worn syncromesh.
try changing the gear oil to UNIPART MTF 94. available from some honda dealers and rover/land rover dealers.
you need 2.2 ltrs

Sounds like a syncro to me. As said above try an oil change. If that dosn't fix it you'll be looking at getting the box rebuilt.

The clunk is after you put it into 2nd, or while trying to put it in?

its after im in second gear, the clunk comes when i release the clutch.

Ive found the problem tonight, its a bracket behind the engine. Im not sure what the part/bracket is called, ill upload a picture asap.

This seems to be the problem, its market with a pink dot. Does anyone know whats this part is??

it's the rear engine mount.

There are voids in the rubber as it is not a solid mount. Those "legs" might be torn/ripped from old age/violent shifting or plain revving the motor like an idiot.
