as title says after been to watch the wrc this weekend which was immense . ive figured after my civics built i want to compete competitively but dont want it to cost me an arm and a leg.
ive done a bit of research and its seems bristol motor club have quite a few events that are very cheap such as rally nav, hill climb ect ect im just wondering if theres any northwest motor clubs that do the mentioned events or similar without it putting a hole in my pocket. any info is appreciated :thanks:

Im doing tintops in mine...you can run two drivers and halve the cost.

Actually I bought it just for this reason as the ek9 (or technically 4 in my case) is the best 1.6 there is.

Karting. Have a try in a real kart, they're way different compared to those cheap, slow, bad handling karts that you drive when do a heat for 15 quid.

My tintops racing this year fuel food motorhome fuel spare parts tyres entry fee . 6 Races lots of fun £4k Ish

few options as above tintops aint bad if you get someone else on board also the msa trophy cup is for start up racers and the vtec challenge is not to expensive and you dont need to do all races only as many as u feel you can get to or afford. have you got msa license yet? as this will also cost around £500 ontop but not required for some racing, such as hillclimb if i remember correctly (sure il be corrected if i am wrong) i am also in the same boat as iv been wanting to race for years but it is costly even if you are talented go karting is best place to be spotted but age maybe a disadvantage for this, will cost less but depends if you fancy karts or cars to race. done any track days to see if you actually enjoy or are any good on a track?

thanks some awesome info karting like you say leans towards younger group, tin tops sound awesome especially splitting the costs.
how does it work with race licenses ect i know i should search but its a lot better getting told by some one who knows.

the vtec challenge is probably a bit out of my price range, ive raced motocross most of my life always worked on cars and drive the cat and fiddle and some awesome roads daily so not a stranger to driving or competitive racing im sure id love it,

its just finding the cheapest option as possible, im leaning towards a class that you dont have to a licence for any ideas?

Are you set on tarmac? Autocross/autograss is extremly cheap,50£ entry fee and no licence required,

Just go down your local mcdonalds and race some saxo's :drive:

race license is msa certified for racing on all uk tracks competitively and allows you to enter most races across uk apart from like of pro races, btcc formula 3000 f1 stuff like that you need a tougher license, you get msa blue book about £70, ards test £250 theory and laps done with instructor, also medical think its around £50 im sure there something else im forgetting as last time i worked it out my bill would be £500.

autograss is cheaper but last i noticed there was some serious pieces of kit at the one by me, twin hyabussa engined ka was 1 there, that gotta be expensive lol.

id defo do a track day as roads are a hell of a difference to track especially when your on the limit you soon see the limit on a road is far off the limit on a track. you may not find its for you.

Find out if your local car clubs do road rallies aka Navigational Rallies or '12 Cars' I often do some with my dad, me navigating. They can be done in any car and are quite a laugh. Its a bit like orienteering but in cars. Only usually costs a tenner for entry fee plus a tank of fuel. Cheapest form of motorsport in my opinion!

Do u want to drive or navigate? I do navigating in stage rally's and night navigations, not as expensive to sit on but beginners normally share entry fees to start of with. If you want to drive, auto cross racing isn't that dear to do..

Club100 karts - arrive and drive with 2 stroke direct-drive karts. Very good value and you're using someone else's kit which is always better than wrecking your own.

spot on clockwork i will be a member of club100 karts for 2014 :p in the mean time if anyone knows any north west clubs that do road rally navigations or hill climbs could you put me in the right direction for them
