Cheap turbo kit, what do you think?

What did I say about AFR's? Yes I know there's more to tuning than AFR's LOL... Ignition timing, cam timing and the corrections are equally important... So LOL at yourself, and your imaginary friend can do the same.

I'm not even going to start on the rest... I'll leave you to it as I'd be here all day.

The one things I will say though is that mapping isn't exactly rocket science. There are plenty of good tuning shops in the UK that are capable of mapping even the most complicated advanced EMS out there. Here I'll even help, so that you know at least one place in the UK. https://www.tdi-plc.com/index.php?pge=C_contactus

P.S. this isn't a E-war, it's a debate. I don't want any victory what so ever. I don't give a **** about winning anything. I just don't want new users or guys that aren't that clued up falling to believe cheap part's are OK and trouble free.

Please don't say that. It's a shame to throw **** at such a well engineered car... And you don't live that far from me so I may see it and get very depressed :(:)wtf2:

Hehe, i wouldn't turbo my car with a setup like that anyway, rather do my own piecing together :)

This is what this thread is all about, I dont think Rich is being an arse, hes saying it how it is, forced induction in anyway shape of form is never cheap and I dont think saying other wise is a good idea.

the kits are normally okay, its just the turbo's that arnt up to the job occasionally

I don't mean to sound a dick. It's just that this **** really irritates me when people try to defend or bull **** about all the cheap **** on the market. It's all ****, and it's very misleading to new user's which may actually fall for it and end up regretting it. There's no "misconception" here, you get what you pay for. Research and development, quality machinery, quality metals, quality educated workers all cost money. Now tell me what China knows about anyone of these?

Rich777; ambassador and general know it all of everything and everyone from China.

Nope, there's actually a difference between "cheap chinese ****" and something "made in China ". E.g. Apple

And NO , I'm not a "know it all" I don't know everything. The one thing I do know what your ignorant skull doesn't though is quality...

great debate!!!

i can see both sides to the story,

for example...the backyard racing guys would ony use cheap ebay kits and they would do some impressive times on the strip, blow the engine up and start again with another cheap engine untill that blows.

but then if you want your build to last dont buy the cheap stuff, i bought a OBX-R Ram horn manifold for £120 the welds looked strong it was braced etc etc... only half an hour after my tune it cracked!!!

and as above there are some good tuners in the UK, TDI-PLC, CPL Racing, Abbey Motorsport. I would say TDI-PLC are one of the best tuners in Europe, last time i went to book my car in for a tune i had to wait a month until there tuner Sam and there dyno returned from Dubai after tuning a GTR running on Methanol, if some rich arab hired there services to tune a car that operates in +45c heat then i trust him with my car

Cheap **** tends to not fit very well either. A mate bought a eBay FMIC for his glanza and he had to chop the **** out of the bumper for it to fit. I had my intercooler custom made to suit my car.

Also, when it comes to the quality of the turbo, I run a precision turbo, from what I know (very little) they aren't THAT bad. But after being in a car running a garrett the difference is night and day.

That Sam knows his stuff. He probably is the BEST tuner in Europe (knowledge wise ).

He has tuned 3 of my cars so far and a few of my mates, and every time they have been top notch, he will be tuning my new b18 turbo

You won't go wrong with him what so ever. Guy's like him are the "real" tuners. He's a expert...
