does the manifold have to come off or can you get at it without taking the mani off?

Can do with manifold still attached, but there is not much room and the sensor can be quite tight!

When i changed mines i took it off from the top with a little struggling. From the bottom theres hardly any room. :nice:

What's the best angle to attack it at? From up top or get under the car?

Underneath with a ring spanner =] It would def be easier with the manifold off, but I can't get it off with the o2 still attached :s

Unclip the plug from the top under the inlet manifold and then get underneath with ring spanner and give it some beans lol. You could leave it running for a few minutes so the exhaust gets warmish which will make it easier to undo.

i've never had to remove a manifold to remove the o2 sensor.

use a good quality spanner that fits well.

i got to it easily from underneath the car with a o2 socket and ratchet

this is true :nice:

depends how tight the person that put it on last.
when i first changed it, the bar just would fit in the gap given.
however, once i insalled it, there was enough gap and leverage to get the tool in.
advice is just take it off first if you are struggling as it will eliminate the chances of rounding the nut off
