have a quick look underneath today, i found mine still have cat before the b-pipe! :nono:
when i bought the car seller said was de-cat !!!

anyway, should i rip it off? i worry if de-cat'ed there have not enough "back pressure" for the system, this engine have very low torque.

what do you feel before and after de-cat.

i have no experience on this civic. please teach me.

thank you

Pulse tuning is what an exhaust relys on. Thats why you should buy full systems from proven manufacturers who spend lots of money testing for proven gains.

Definately get a decat though as the smell and noise is worth it and they supposedly make a difference on a B series motor

de-cat will have power gains of a cat. a cat restricts your system put on the de-cat and it gives better flow

I de-cated my Jordan, and it was the single biggest performance mod that I did, now get torque steer which I never had before, and the VTEC engagement seems a lot more aggressive, biggest bang for the buck as far as I am concerned, well worth doing.

Decat will perform better than stock cat. But decat will also perform on par with a high flow cat.

The down thing is, decat gives off some serious toxin gas that i couldnt bear last time. Also shitty sound. Overall its cheaper to decat than to get a high flow cat.

High flow cat is more expensive but sound better and smell less.

I agree at all!!!

Think it depends what de cat you get, mine doesnt make a tinny noise at all, just sounds really nice, but I have read that some people get a noise from theirs, so it may depend on which one you have. I cant see how any cat whether sports or not can breathe as easily as one that isnt there, doesnt really make sense, anything that is inline in the exhaust is going to be more of a restriction than nothing being there, basic physics I would have thought. Only downside to no cat is MOT time as it will need refitting, having no cat can also increase your MPG aswell, as the engine doesnt have to work as hard to expel the gasses. I dont get any bad smells from mine or staining of the bumper either.

about the MPG side, its not already increase.
on one of my old 86, the car is totally standard. drives ok, but can feel it restriction. so i fit a cat back, its feel better, so i just knock out the cat. after all this, car no more restriction and it get more MPG by around 10mile.
but on my another old 86 with 20v black top, have manifold, and exhaust system and cat. i than remove the cat and fit a de-cat pipe. but the car dives bad, not power at low down rev, use a lot more fuel.

well, as many people said should de-cat it, so im going to buy a de-cat pipe and try. if no good i can always put the cat back on it. :)

other question was, where you guys buy your de-cat pipe?
thank you

I found removing the cat on my ek9 made it much better. It sounds a bit raspy for a couple of weeks until the pipe fills with carbon then it tends to go. However the car will not pass NCT/ MOT so make sure you hang on to it.

have a non resonated de-cat and it is quite raspy which i dont mind but i know it annoys people, i had this resonated one on my old 9 and done the job perfect without the raspy note :nice:

Honda Civic De Cat EK9 or DC2 JDM Resonator Z0191 on eBay (end time 06-Jun-10 16:11:59 BST)

use cat otherwise it smell like sh*t and its bad for you and the planet
high-flow cat is the best solution imo

and the gain with de-cat is 2hp...

i recently had my cat removed and would say the car runs and revs much smoother so i'd say de-cat it! as EkRon says though, keep it for MOT time! :nice:

i fit a decat today. really responsive and a bit more punch to it. definately gofor it imo

wen i fitted my decat's to diff cars i didnt notice really any different... skunk2 one aswell

Keep your cat in

Will hardly make any difference with a decat, will only make you subject to a potential fine and make your car sound like total ass :)
