does anyone know where i can get a carbon fiber roof ? preferably in the uk as shipping from the usa will cost just as much as the roof itself

i found one in the uk but its for a coupe and has a sunroof hole

i need a ek hatch without the sunroof.

Thanks guys !

EDIT:: in case someone is thinking the same as me its not advised unless its for a track car with roll cage, there is oem roofs out there without the sunroof

I cant help you atm,but i will be making a carbon roof for a crx in the next month then one for my ek9. If the ek9 one comes out really well il consider making a couple to sell.

i need it asap my car is going in for a respray in a few weeks and need it for then to get painted aswell

Why not a metal roof over the carbon option?
The roof is an important structural part of the car...not sure if a carbon roof would hold up. Are you running a roll cage?

nah mate no cage and isnt carbon stronger than standard metal ? my sunroof is leaking so im taking it out and instead of spending 200 on a carbon roof bung i thought i may aswell spend an extra 2-300 on the full roof

could do a carbon overlay pretty handy if your intent on having a black roof...

Personally I would not run carbon roof without roll cage fitted.

A carbon roof would be fully acceptable. The roof skin is not a structural part of the chassis, im not saying its not needed but its not what people think, and its all about the quality of weeve and the amount of resin used, assuming its not pre preg carbon anyways.

to be honest mate i have no idea what that means lol does that mean a carbon roof wouldnt cause the chassis to flex ?

hahaha sorry, yes mate it will be fine! and wont affect the flex, assuming its been done correctly.

do you mewn carbon rap were its a material/ vinyl or do you mean a actual thin sheet of carbon fiber

do you think you could make it then with a good fit ? if so i will just hang on for now and keep the sunroof in untill you make it

Is the carbon roof going to be as safe as metal sheet tho? I know some supercars have carbon roof but surely those have been designed with that in mind, so what would the implications be in case of car like the 9? How much weight are you hoping to save? I am all for lowering weight and the center of gravity, but not if it should affect the safety in any way.

My mate is getting the roof cut out his Evo 7 and getting a carbon roof put in! costing a fortune to get it done properly.

it shouldnt affect the safety of it surely ? carbon fiber is strong than steel is it not ? im not replacing the roof support struts just the thin sheet of metal that goes over them

do you know where this is ? do they make the roofs or did he buy it separate ?

I have no idea, I will ask him tonight and get back to you. I know he is ordering the roof very soon or he may have already ordered it.

He is buying the roof separate and then getting it fitted elsewhere.
