your recommended to check your fluid levels weekly by the AA.

worst case scenario, its piston rings, or its valves... anyone any idea what the cost would be for repairing?? am i looking at a full rebuild?
That is a lot. I burn about 1litre per 1000miles and after 2 rebuilds I give up!
Fudge it off and get another engine or motor
Cost would depend on what's wrong. Valves would be head off, re-lap or replace. Big job but not too bad. Piston rings would be a bottom end re-build probably.
do you know anywhere around that does this bud?
u should try motul oil it very good, ul be able to buy it of sim auto on ere sound guy and always good to deal with..
by the sounds of it ul need pistion rings and valve steam oil seals..
wen ur in there, ul replace head gasket, oil& filter, coolant..
so with parts and labour ul be lookn at few hunderd to get it repaired..
but get it a compression test done first!!!

A ''little bit of smoke'' in VTEC means nothing, as soon as you get up to speed it's hard to see any smoke as the rear window is tinted and it disperses too quickly... Find a looooong hill, drive down in lets say 3rd or maybe even second gear in the following manner:
1) Get the car up to speed and rev it up to at least 7000 rpm, or more.
2) Let it roll down the hill with your foot OFF the gas pedal, leave it in gear.
3) When you get at the bottom of the hill, step on gas and check your rear view mirror, if you see a lot of smoke your engine has a problem....
Yes off course i do, i built the car to race so u need to be sure all fluilds is ok.. and u can keep a eye if ur car burns oil!!!!
one week or a month is way to long, well if u use ur v-tec!!
id feel bad selling it to someone and then it blowing up on them a month later like!
itll be either rings or valve stem seals both cheap to buy and if you take engine out yourself it shouldnt be to costly to replace. My fully built b18c uses next to no oil at all, even at a track day where its getting used all day itll still be sitting at the top of the dipstick and i ran my jordan on a 5w40 oil and it didnt use any either,id recommend a compression test and then id get the b18 a refresh and your good to go
If it's going through that much oil then your rings have probably had it. You won't get away with fitting new rings either if the cylinders have gone out of round which is very common on the 1.8 so the bores will need to be checked and if found to be out of round your only option is oversized pistons.
what kind of â¬â¬ would i be looking for parts and labour?
if the compression test is fine what would i put it down to?
