Sorry, I know this may have been done to death already, I have searched and read a few threads.

However, one thing that was not clarified from the searching I did...which tyre is equal to the BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE010 not just in grip performance but tyre side wall strength?

No doubt there are decent tyres out there for decent prices, but tyres like Potenza, Eagle F1 etc all seem to fall short when it comes to side wall strength!

So, what tyre out there offers similar performance and strength that can handle the 9's conering abilities without foldiong the side walls?

I believe getting hold of RE010's is difficult to get hold of now and I was looking for a 50/R15 not 55/R15.

Need to be available in the UK!

Thanks :)

Are you referring to RE010's or RE01-R's? I ask as mine has RE01-R's on them, which i believe were factory fit tyres, so not sure if they're different to RE010's.

RE010s have a nice and stiff sidewall, besides that they are "ok" , good in the dry and not very good at all in the wet

over 10 year old tyre technology you have to remember!

Hankook RS2 are really really good, sidewalls not as stiff but still a good tyre even in the wet, the RE010s downfall was especially wet weather grip

R888 have nice stiff sidewalls ;)

Yeah...seen arguments in relation to the RE010. It was good enough then when the EK9 was launched and all that...

I read a review today about them being very slippy in the wet actually. You have used the Hankook RS2 personally then, is that what you are using now?

How does the sidewall stiffness compare to the likes of Toyo Proxies, Eagle F1, Spec II etc?

R888 is a no go mate, this is a all year round daily driver.

I've used the RS2 since september last year including on a track day and sprint event and they have been fantastic!

Only changed them last night actually to a set of R888, they are AWESOME AWESOME tyres, the grip is actually unreal and i could tell this even on the 20 miles i did straight after fitting :nerv: . could only really justify these as i either share a lift or take the train to work so my car is used in the evenings and weekends now, tbh with the amount of grip off them i don't care how long they last, if i get 4k miles then that will be a very fun 4k miles :dance:

BUT R888, the road noise is alot higher than even the RS2 and you got loads of stones/debris flung up off the road, i'm running them in 195/50 and the sidewalls are really stiff, so the ride is a bit harsher than before too.....

Get them in 195/50 then, I ran the 205/50 which WERE really good but 195/50 will have a smaller sidewall (stiffer) and will give you a touch shorter gearing :)

i have hankook rs2's aswell def a great tyre better in wet than parada spec 2's or so i here lol you wont be disappointed with the hankook's mate and for the 195/50/15 there really cheap just as cheap as some average tyres as i paid £184 fitted and balanced.

RS2 is a nice bang for buck tyre.

But if its the best your after, then it has to be RE-11 Bridgestone. Released this year. 991 Turbo owners who track their car have said its better than R888(true semi slick). Apparently shaved 1 sec off their lap times.

I have recently had 4 hankook rs2s fitted and they have amazing amount of grip. They have transformed my 9! baught them on mytyre.com for £55 each delivered which i personally think is a bargain!

I think most know my opinions on the RS2 as a great value road tyre. RE11 look real nice - like many fancy tyres probably not available in UK?

The Falken Azenis RT615 has very stiff sidewalls, and good grip. Much better grip than Spec 2's or Eagle F1's, but a bit worse than R888's or Re11's.

So the Azenis or the RS2 are both in that same middle class, seems the Azenis are hard to find in the UK however. RS2 is not bad.

Tire rack is the best option... i got my RE-11 from them.

Hi Guys

Im just wondering

I've heard everybody talking about the Bridgestones, Goodyears etc

But what about the Pirelli's Zero Nero

It has a decent sidewall and because of the a-symetric layout much grip in the wet as in dry

grtz

p zero nero are an awesome tyre, we had them on my mate justins dc2 and they behave very well, even round teh nurburgring they offered consistent levels of grip and didn`t wear too bad,,

I have them on my EK4

Im only active on the streets, so i dont know how it wil behave on the circuits after a few laps but i just love them

before this i had the Dunlop SP9000

also a great tyre, but the pirelli's have better grip in the wet and slight more in dry compared to the dunlops

grtz

Tirerack is not a UK site, when I say getting hold of these fancy tyres - I mean from a UK retailer. Search engine is pish anyway - doesnt even list EK9 or Integra, zip codes pah
