hello all.... few days ago when taking my new EK9 for a spin, my friend noticed when i put my foot down that black smoke came from the exhaust when the vtec come in......when driving it normally....no smoke to be seen...only when vtec comes in......iv been told it could be the piston rings? or some kinda leak........well id like to get this problem fixed asap.....but dunno where to take the car to get checked (from leicester)......any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Sounds like overfuelling has your car been rempapped or running an adjustable fpr?

as olly said black is normally overfueling blue smoke is normally pistonrings, valvestem seals etc. my old vti had black smoke in vtec and the back bumper went black since i changed the cams in it.

This is somewhat normal in my experience with Vtec engines, some do it more than others... if you have a decat it will do it more so.

however if its excessive it could be a sign of a hurt engine, possible piston ring wear...

yeah mate mine does it a bit as well, takin it to rolling road soon to get it played with to try and correct the mixture, i`ll let you know if it cures it:nice:

more air , better air filter like aem cold air can help you burn that extra fuel but not if its too much.
post your mods if you have any.
