black smoke on startup and poor fuel consumption

my ek4 is smoking more than my gran,

on first startup in the morning if you blip the throttle im getting large puffs of black smoke

on top of the fact my fuel consumption has dropped to about 18mpg

car used to do about 120miles to 20quid with mixed driving

now im struggling to see 100miles to 25quid with mixed driving

i know its using oil but it always has(since i put an engine flush through it )

only things done since my consumption dropped is a unbranded 4-1 manifold that i bought off hotsuma

Any ideas why im getting shite fuel consumption and black smoke that seems to clear up when warm :mad

Well it sound's like its deffo over fuelling so one of your sensors must be playing up? maybe your 02 sensor...but im sure someone else will be able to clear it up mate

Sounds like the 02 sensor is acting up

i know somebody who had exactly the same problem, o2 sensor fix'll sort it

yeah it does seem to have lost a bit of power,feels bogged down quite a bit when snapping to wot from low rpms,

had been slow to start recently but i changed the plug leads for a set of ngk blues and it seems to have improved start speed dramatically(cheers john)

need to hit up my honda dealership for a new oem o2 sensor, it has done 175k afterall

you can get cheaper on net thou,i have used one here if you wanna try that first

how much posted for the o2 sensor,

can i use any honda o2 sensor as long as its not single wire?

think the others are 4 wire as i have a brand new one i bought for my ek3 i had before, its either 4 or 5 wire iirc

will this work on my ek4?

u can also buy them from ngk plug in ones never ever get the wire ones that u solder together they mess up the emissions for some reason i jus goin on my expierence
