hi its almost time to grace my civic with a new pair of rubber . i am running toyo r1r`s up front and t1r`s at the rear was wondering best grip tyre for our roads my budget is 150 for the pair . any comments/thoughts welcome . i was thinking of just getting a fresh set of r1r`s tbh . also i have no lsd .:thanks:

R1Rs are good. The next step is R888/A048, but they'll suck in the rain.

AD08s are a better balance of grip/wear.

Why do you want loads of grip though?

You can have more fun driving on the limit with lower grip tyres, at lower speeds too. I found R888s on the road were blindingly good, but it ended up frustrating me because I had to share the road with cars that could take corners at 30mph when I could comfortably manage 50mph. I never really got to fully use them, but my god I was paying for it in tyre wear! :nono:

You won't get a new pair of semi slicks for 150. A048 your paying that for 1. Ad08 is a better tyre than r1r I've had both, r1r good but wear too fast.

Tried federal Rsr? I use them on my teg and had them on my silvia.
Find them very good, even done great on a wet track day!

X2 Dad has 4 of these on the DC2 and really rates them :nice:

I love my Hankook RS2's on track but sadly there discontinued now.

sweet ad08`s seem to be the preffered choice but im really loving my r1r`s even almost illegal they still hang in there something chronic . tyre wear doesnt really bother me as i rarley use my civic {2-3 a week }

Got some R1Rs for sale ATM mate if that helps you change your mind ;)

ohhhh man just after getting my holiday booked grr . haha what sort of cond ? deposit ? also im running 15" 195 50

They're almost brand new
Had them on my clio for a couple of hundred miles
They are 205 though that's the only problem

r888 wear way too fast , advans would be a better bet. both tires are only good once they heat up, dodge when cold.

im a big fan of RE11's, for street and light track use in the dry.

Did anyone consider the Dunlop Direzza semi slicks? In between A048 and R888 price wise and they are supposed to perform and wear better than both

Im gona try them when my A048s wear out on the front

Bought a set of 03g's recently , in 195 55 15 H1 , havent used them in anger yet so will be interesting to see how they fair out on track

Very little information around about them apart from Japanese forums , which say they are up there with the A050

That's basically what I have found out about them too mate, only one way to find out how they perform on the track so let us know how they do

hankook rs-3 best in price

Thats true but they dont officially sell them here in the EU

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a set 225 45 15 , amazing tyres for the price , only complaint being the sidewalls are a tad soft , so to make them run fast for a 225 you ideally need a 8+ width wheel

Still have 2 left :D

if only i could find some decent 16/8/ et 25 or higher :/

There is a retailer on itr-dc2 forum selling the Kumho XS (ku36) in 205 50 15 , which are another great tyre for the price £57 inc delivery .. just another option.

But in all reality it is hard to beat the Ad08 especially coming into the summer
