best exhaust system

Custom built exhausts are deffinately the way forward

I used to have a spoon N1, but when you look at it the design isn't great for all out performance, especially with a "built" engine

60mm piping that bottle necks down at a couple points etc, i mean it's a nice looking tail pipe, but that's about it

for performance the buddy club systems are great - 2.5" thin walled system with slip joints which offer no restriction to the flow, only problem is the "silencers" do no silencing at all!!!!!!! this seems to be the same for most brands sadly

my new system i've had built is a true 2.5" ID straight through all the way to the end of the tailpipe, there is only a single rear silencer but it is a proper motorsport can similar to what they use on caterhams / single seater race cars, repackable with a carbon skin. so damps sound VERY well and should bring noise down to about 90dB

whatever you do, NEVER run a bung in the end of the exhaust when running the car hard, especially on track :nono:

please don't listen to people advising the Spoon exhuast's or Buddy club or Mugen..
None of these are straight through

You will have to pay alot of money for something like this
Boyz Zero 1 Muffler | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!
which is a STRAIGHT THROUGH exhuast...
i honestly don't know why people think that the spoon N1 is straight through, yes it doesn't have restrictive baffles.... but it is NOT a striaght through exhuast....
2 obvious things that point this out are
It is not striaght, and It has baffles, yes they may be free flowing but they are still there adding weight and turbulance....

Or you will have to get a custom exhasut made just like stevenEK9 describes...

please Don't comprimise on a Spoon N1 you want something as striaght as you can get .

As you can see it slips over it selfs so less weight again. this is the type of thing steven is talking about when he says slip joins. this is near as dammit straight, as these minimal bends will not affeect flow rates at all, where as exhuasts that follow the stock route have far to many bends..

Ordered one of these a month ago, cant bloody wait for it to arrive! Good bye HKS silent :p

If by 'best' you mean best performance gains you want something in the correct bore size, with as little restriction as possible so that it can achieve the highest possible gas flow rate. So, if you want to go all out, you should be aiming higher than the usual systems like the Buddyclub you mentioned, you want it to be either one peice or to have slip-fit joins rather than flange joints, you also want it to have minimal bends, so look into a straight exhaust that hangs under the subframe rather than following the stock exhaust route.

:)

This is the best for racing applications like drag racing. Even lowered Track cars find it impractical. For daily? Hell no!

I'd stick with 2.36" max for b16 since theres no bends. 2.5" straight is too big.

I'd love to have a full titanium 2.5" cat back ceramic coated. Tooooooo expensive!!
