As you may have seen my last post, i'm afte a good exhaust systme for a track/race car project, i'm after all out performance and couldn't care much for styling. The spoon n1 system has caught my eye and i like the tone. Is there any other recommendations?

search type '' exhaust system '' at the search bar it's easy .:nice:
i don't know if all tracks allowd this but
imo if you can handle the noise too don't use an exhaust at all best power gains less weight and cost effective use only a good header. :naughty:

Unfortunatly I have to run an exhaust, it can't be any louder than 105db neither. I like the style and tone of the spoon n1 but it only a rear muffler. The buddyclub pro and spec models sound appealing. Has anyone had any experience of there's? Which is best?

i've seen that you lose hp with the spec 2, as its basically a straight pipe...
the spec 3 and pro spec look to be the best BC systems for gains.

You can also get the Spoon B-pipe to go with the N1 :)

If by 'best' you mean best performance gains you want something in the correct bore size, with as little restriction as possible so that it can achieve the highest possible gas flow rate. So, if you want to go all out, you should be aiming higher than the usual systems like the Buddyclub you mentioned, you want it to be either one peice or to have slip-fit joins rather than flange joints, you also want it to have minimal bends, so look into a straight exhaust that hangs under the subframe rather than following the stock exhaust route.

:)

for me its a spoon n1 , i had one on the teg (now breaking) :( but without a doubt the most insane exhaust ever (to me) its not as loud as everyone makes out , as i think buddy clubs are an acquired taste but the n1 was just the fun lumps ;)

I've got a spoon N1 backbox on my vti at the moment, it's a little boomy low down but sounds fantastic when it pipes up from 4,000rpm onwards and obviously when Vtec engages. It's not as loud as people make out, I found it boomy at first but I've just gotten used to it now. Eventually I'm going for a straight through center section etc once I've got a 2.5 inch mani sorted.

For power though, the N1 gives an improvement but I read somewhere that the join between the Spoon B pipe and the N1 backbox restricts flow for some reason or other? or is this just utter bobbins?

EDIT: Another exhaust possibly worth looking at is the 5zigen border 304. IMO it's only exhaust that sounds better than the spoon N1 but they don't seem to come for sale very often and I'm not sure what performance gains are like in comparison to other exhast systems. That is unless anyone on here knows?

thank you all for the replys. What's the exhaust you've pictured dozzy? might be best of with a custom exhaust then, as straight as possible with nice clean welds, probably cost alot less to

I'm pretty sure the one in the picture I posted is an RSR Exmag GT2, there are a few similar systems available off the shelf too, but they tend to be rare and pricey.. You also have to bear in mind ground clearance, no mega lows with this exhaust or you'll be scraping everywhere.. Although, sounds like you're more interested in functionality so I guess you'll have the car at a relatively sensible height anyway :nice:

I think you're spot on with the custom idea, provided it's made by somebody good!

Sorry dude but i dont like the look of the J's racing system, it'll looks like something i'd likely find in halfords. The RSR Exmag GT2 system on the other hand is just what i'm looking for. I dont think the ground clearance will be an issue as its a circuit car after all, so it'll be trailered everywhere it goes. Thanks dozzy for putting me on to this. There listed as $499 in the US, just need to find a UK stockist now

Haha each to their own I guess, can't say I've seen anything in halfords like it :p definitely not your typical fart can though!

mugen twin loop imo nice and quite but still an awesome exhuast system :)

No offence dude but you can forget about the Mugen TL as that is a heavily restrictive system and from what i remember from mine it's a very heavy system..
You want to be looking at Race systems and not street system's

Here's what i came up with for EK9

Boyz Zero 1 muffler - Pretty damm straight piping really... good flow too
Boyz Zero 1 Muffler | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!

Kakimoto GT1 OZ Racing - again pretty near to straight piping and only 1mm thick so its very light weight, saying that it is one of the lightest systems.:)
Kakimoto GT1 0Z Racing | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!

Signal Auto's CB Titanium system - Straight pipe, titanium, light weight, also singal are a very very highly respected company.. :)
Signal Auto CB Titanium Muffler | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!

Amuse R1 Titanium System - Pretty damm expensive but its made by Amuse.. 4.7kilos for the catback system. !!!!! :wow:
Amuse R1 Titanium exhaust system | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!

Bloodsports N1 Racing muffler - Easily my favourite system , Light as hell, Race design so striaght pipe again.. price though :wow:
Blood Sports N1 Racing Muffler | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!

Or you could call someone like powerflow, Magnaflow or jetex ..... these names are not to be sneared at if you ask them to make you a striaght through system with minimal bends that goes under the control arms you will be substantial gains... these maybe heavier than some of the systems i have listed below.... but its always good to give them a call as they may be a 3rd of the price and gain you more power.... after all you can ask them to build to exactly what you want... worth a thought

Lots to think about there hope it opens some doors for you.....

the best exhaust system for your car would be a fully custom one made to match the mods on your car to achieve the best power avaliable. but as a rule of thumb the bigger the internal dia and as few bends and restrictions as possible will be better. obviously you can get too big a bore of an exhaust for your power and thus will have poor velocity within the system and thus bad performance as a result.

off the shelve systems i would go for would be

Spoon N1
Apexi N1 (under axle)
Buddyclub spec 2

any other 2.5" systems with straight through mufflers, cant think of any names at present.
