best exhaust system

i have a border 304 on at the min and i have to say its a nice job and class on deacceleration but iam fitting my custom straight through exhaust this week but from what i have found in reserch a straigh through exhaust will result in a power loss until remaped then they show good gains thats just in my experience
welcome to prove me wrong here

Sorry dude but i dont like the look of the J's racing system, it'll looks like something i'd likely find in halfords. The RSR Exmag GT2 system on the other hand is just what i'm looking for. I dont think the ground clearance will be an issue as its a circuit car after all, so it'll be trailered everywhere it goes. Thanks dozzy for putting me on to this. There listed as $499 in the US, just need to find a UK stockist now

Sweet mate! Glad I could help :)

I'd definitely look at the straight pipe exhaust. I can't see any possible way that these would reduce power though, only if the bore size was to big. Bends are bad, they slow the gas down, straight pipe doesn't inhibit flow half as much.

Amuse R1 looks the ticket, either that or custom. Ti though gets you a nice chunk of weight free'd up

To be honest, non of the jap systems anyone has listed will give you optimum power, any that would you would end up paying well over the odds for

A full custom system with PROPER 2.5" ID tubing and slip joins would be the best for performance on a b-series engine

Alot of jap companies state 60.5mm which is NOT 2.5", it is in fact smaller, and Spoon for instance the b-pipe to backbox join bottlenecks down further and causes a restriction

Mate has a full custom system on his hillclimb integra, slip joints, true 2.5" ID, straight through with a carbon fibre repackable silencer and it is lovely :wow:

please don't listen to people advising the Spoon exhuast's or Buddy club or Mugen..
None of these are straight through

You will have to pay alot of money for something like this
Boyz Zero 1 Muffler | Tougedistribution.com | JDM Parts direct from Japan! HKS, Tomei, Endless, Power House Amuse, Project Mu and more!
which is a STRAIGHT THROUGH exhuast...
i honestly don't know why people think that the spoon N1 is straight through, yes it doesn't have restrictive baffles.... but it is NOT a striaght through exhuast....
2 obvious things that point this out are
It is not striaght, and It has baffles, yes they may be free flowing but they are still there adding weight and turbulance....

Or you will have to get a custom exhasut made just like stevenEK9 describes...

please Don't comprimise on a Spoon N1 you want something as striaght as you can get .

As you can see it slips over it selfs so less weight again. this is the type of thing steven is talking about when he says slip joins. this is near as dammit straight, as these minimal bends will not affeect flow rates at all, where as exhuasts that follow the stock route have far to many bends..

I don't think it is dude... i was looking for all out performance exhuasts...

in his first comment he states for race/track project so i just thought i'll go all out performance..
the exhuasts i listed arae the ones i have saved in my favourites for when that lucky ticket comes up in the lottery i will just choose one and then order it so i don't have to search.
I'm sure alot of people have done this. like a sort of wish list of dream parts..

ok is this a bad exhaust its for the road and dont want to hit the ground to thats why it has followed the orignal like but it is 64mm internal

the only think that they are all good power wise on the street but no uk track will allow you with that scaffold thing.

well this scaffold thing was perged when made so cant wait to get the car mapped with it and see what gains there are over the border 304

You won't get near any track in the UK with that straight pipe unless it's one of Donington's no limits days where you can run your car as loud as you like, possibly the same with Llandow.

i have a buddy club pro spec 3 and it sounds awsome you should try 1 of them

On my DC2 i had a Mugen Twinloop
Didnt like the looks, sound (too quiet) & was bloody heavy!
Then had a Kakimoto Fullmega N1 looked & sounds awesome
Then had a Fujitsubo Legalis R. Look good kinda oem like but quiet
Last exhaust was a JIC Majic back box with Vision R b-pipe
Looked & sounded awesome

Yup i went through 4 different exhaust systems on my DC2 lol

Im sure the Kakimoto & JIC is too loud for track though

what kind of bore size is recomended for a standardish ek4 vti its got a 4 branch and decat just want a good system that isnt going to blow next doors windows through done all that befor and found it anoying after time especially as im stripped out i do want a decent sound though was thinking of getting a custom build ive had exspensive systems on cars before and sometimes there not all there cracked upto be a well made custom is just as good imo
