Bad earth?

When I start my car, up it stutters before it starts. A Honda technician said it is likely to be a bad earth.

Also my interior light seems to flicker sometimes and not glow as bright as it usually does.

I have uploaded a video of my car starting.

Will something like a Buddyclub condenser sort this?

Thanks
Andy

Next time you go to start it wait till you hear the fuel pump stop priming then turn the key to crank the engine and see how it starts;) Have you cleaned the earths off?

Nope, I haven't done anything yet, no clue about the electronics but will give it a go.

Do you have any instructions on how to do this?

One thing also is, when I was at Honda, I changed the battery as I thought that was the problem so they might of cleaned the earth? Not sure though.

Thanks
Andy

Have you checked the voltage in your battery. My car was like that. The battery was f*cked. Got a new battery and it's as good as new now

Yup, I have changed the battery.

So did this make it any better?

Make sure you wait for the fuel pump to prime (yellow engine light goes out when ready).

How old are your spark plugs?

Remove the dist cap and clean the 4 term contacts. There will be a build up of hard crap that needs picking off them.

Clean the leads with some WD40.

Unbolt the chassis earth strap by the battery and the one on the gear box under the air box and check they are not rusty. If they are clean with some sand paper and re-fix having put some grease (or engine oil) round contacting parts.

The battery didn't make a difference. The spark plugs are about 5 months old with less than 2000 miles on them.

I will give what you said above ago and let you guys know how I get on with it.

I dunno if I'm being dumb but I couldn't hear anything odd in the video?!
