Hi, I was wondering with the stroker kit dont you have to buy a diffrent ecu, injectors and anything else which is diffrent from the b18c?

Would it just be easier to get a b18c bottom end and get a b18c ecu and wireing loom addaption kit because you can pt a b16b head on a b18c bottom end cant you???

Tom.

All you need to buy is the ecu mate. If it was me i would go with the stroker kit because you have all fresh parts + you know your own engines good right ?

Yeah my engine is spot on does not use any oil hardly. I have a face lift ek9 so does the ecu have to come of a face lift b18 or does that not matter and also will it plug straight in or do i have to get a adaption kit for the ecu? Cheers Tom

Get a obd2b itr ecu and you'll be fine. Or just get it remaped...

Where is the best place to get a stroker kit from, i live in the uk,

Spoon does not make the stroker kit anymore but I have most of the Genuine Honda parts that come with the spoon stroker kit in the forsale section apart from the crank which you can get from a dc2 exactly the same as the spoon kit.

I was going to stroke mine as its the best option and bought all these parts but I unfortunately have other commitments and have no choice but to sell the parts:angry:

Let me know if you need any of the parts bud

Steve

I wont try them then:((

no point, I tried everywhere that still even advertised the spoon stroker kit any they all said that the kit was discontinued. Other companies like jun and toda make stroker kits but I think most of them are 2000cc and the cost thousands!

Stroking is def the best option as you know that everything inside the engine will be fresh. An example of why not to use a 2nd hand bottom end or engine is the member who recently but a b18 into his jordan and after 600miles the bottom end has gone and needs rebuilt!

Thats a **** :((. Well because im a mechanic i would prob rebuild the bottom end anyway so thats not to bad. If i do just get a bottom end do i have to fit a spoon head gasket or can i get a oem one?

If you rebuild the bottom end you may aswell go for oversize pistons because you will have more displacement which means more power and torque. Also no matter what anyone sayes standard size pistons will not bed properly after a hone and the engine will burn oil unless you use oversize pistons.

You may aswell to things properly while you are rebuilding. Its better to use dc2 pistons as they are lighter, not as prone to heat spots and give more clearance than ek9 pistons. This is why spoon include the headgasket which produces higher compression (more power) and makes up for not using the higher compression ek9 pistons :nice:

There is a B18C bottom end going on the ITR-DC2 forum (edit: or on here - http://www.ek9.org/forum/sale/21312-b18c-type-r-220bhp.html) at the moment for £500.... wish I'd waited as I've got a B18C in my garage waiting to go in. 2 things to consider though:
1) The EK9 intake cam is slightly more aggressive so the P73 ECU will not run the engine perfectly, so factor in mapping to your costs (I would anyway).
2) As far as I'm aware all P73 ECUs are OBD2a so will need a conversion harness which are about £100.
