B18 or h22??

Poor mans kswap

Don't know about that my engine cost £5000 in parts and with the H2b you get better sump clearance and the drive shafts stay at the same angle, but i have not done a kswap so don't mind to be proved wrong!!!:D

Cheers
Matt

To get 190ftlbs and 280bhp you would need to spend silly money the k would probably be cheaper if you wanted that sort of power NA,

It may be cheaper in terms of tuning the engines alone, however I am not convinced tuning the smaller engine which is going to be more expensive to buy and install will be cheaper overall.

why not J series?, check out my build thread for info on my swap :D

I'm doing h2b now using a jdm prelude H22a and an s80 gearbox.
I'm having troubles doing the wiring though (I hate wiring, too complicated!)
Dose anyone know the best and easiest way to do the looms? I have the prelude engine loom and interior loom and the swap is going into a eg which used to be a d15.

b18 fan here, and I would recommend it highly.
...a "B" Civic is just "right" and sounds amazing at WOT.

Hi
the easiest way is to use the d15 engine loom and add missing wires from the h22 engine loom.
Is the d15 v-tec sorry but don't know much on these engines,I used the dc2 engine loom and just added the resistor box for the injectors and also changed the plugs from the distributor over and the injector plugs, try searching on hondatech.com you can get wiring diagrams for both cars. Best thing to do i found was to have the engine (h22) and wiring loom (d15)on the floor with wiring diagrams and work out what fits. Most honda engines have the same sensors just in different places.

What ecu are you going to use?I have a hondata s300 it does not use a knock sensor, one less wire!!

O a j series civic in the uk, i will be looking into this, as ive watched them on youtube and bloody hell they can shift

Would say go with the H2B or full H22 swap. Basic breathing mods and a remap should see you into K20 territory with plenty more torque and still with an internally standard engine. Once you have done the hard work and completed the conversion your sorted. If the motor dies you just replace it with another. H22's are cheap peanuts these days.

B18 is an easy option but can be costly if your not saticfied with 200hp and 130lbft. Also If you decide to tune (which you most likely will) you have a tuned engine so will cost alot more to replace or fix if something goes wrong.

A full h swap has cost me the following: jdm h22a engine 80k h22 gearbox loom, shifter, cables £200 chipped p28 running stock h22 map till january £105. Innovative h22 eg mounts £260, shafts still not done yet £300 hasport ones or mix and match. H22a manifold £300. O and adjustable coilovers still not got but will so i can run my fat 5s.

From mid year it will be a k series killer N/A with what im doing :D
