B16B supercharger question??

these days in the UK anyway...

I would advise finding somebody in your country familiar with highly tuned
b-series engines and discuss with them your intended application/goals for the car and what your budget is

Jackson racing, chargespeed (I think that's the name) and kraftworks are the three that I know of.

Bought a JRSC kit last year as I loved the Idea of a roots charged B series but after doing some research they turned out to be quite inefficient. So decided to sell the kit few months back.

Basically fighting a loosing battle of complications from even the most basic low boost setups. Simple Small quick spool turbo setup would piss on it in every way and be much more efficient.

New rotrex/ centrifugal type's are starting to catch up with turbos but just tend to very peaky like N/A.

You want progressive on a track car anyway, specially fwd. turbo your getting all boost straight away, making it more Likly to spin the wheels or unsettle the car.
If all you want is power then turbo is the way to go. But not everyone wants big power.

Not really true ^^

You can get progressive controlled boost with a turbo. Also boost by gear control aswell.

I've had boost by gear via apexi avcr and a progressive map (at the same time) from the best in the world at tuning vauxhalls, quaiffe lsd and tuned suspension by the touring car firm 888.(Basically eibach springs and bilstein dampers). Still unsettled the car as the boost came flying in. It's the mountain of torque that comes in one go even with a progressive map.

Not starting any arguments but what part of my post wasn't true?
You are getting all the boost in one go and it is more Likly to spin the wheels.
you do want progressive power on track ESP fwd, and turbos are best if you want big power.

Obviously this all depends on the power you are going for. I'm not saying all turbo cars are useless on track compared to SC. not saying supercharged is faster on track either. Just a lot easier to control and feel what's going on.

Here is my setup:
98 Spec CTR B16b
B18b Crank and rods
B18C5 (us spec) pistons (81.5mm)
OEM everything else
OEM refreshed head
Skunk2 Mega Power Alpha header (4-2-1 big tube, 2.5 inch)
2.5 test pipe until 2.5 inch Hks mid pipe, into 2.5 Apexi knock off quiet muffler
3inch Go-Auto works intake
Running RC 440 injectors
Skunk2 composite fuel rail
MVM stepper pulley with upgrade JRSC pulley.

Completely rebuilt engine, current setup running 7.4 psi compared to a stock b16b with same setup ran 11.9 psi (crank difference/pistons) with same compression. Using Hondata s300 engine management. Was tuned at Motorvation Motorsports.

at 7.4 psi it put down 242 hp/ 164 ft lbs. Not that impressive, but before I rebuilt it and had the stock b16b in at 11.9 psi it only put down 245/160. The power curve is now a good bit higher until about 8,200 rpm and then they cross over. I do plan on adding a Honda CRV (b20 I believe) crank pulley to up the boost ~4 psi, with hopes of seeing 280 hp.

All in all I am very happy with the setup. But a similar setup with a turbo would smoke my current setup. I just wanted a supercharger because thats what I like. I would have preferred a Vortech SC, with aftercooler as I used to have one, but they are hard to come by now days.
