Hi going to upgrade from a b16a2 engine to b16b, I have froged piston's in the b16a2 engine 11.5 comp. Is it worth while or even possible to fit these piston's to the b16b?

it is possible yes. but your compression will fall back into the 10's again.
Advantage they shouuld be lighter than the ctr pistons

I will be rebuilding the b16b anyway so if its an advantage to change them I will. Is the much work needed to make the b16a piston fit the b16b

These are the piston's in the b16a2 engine

Mahle Forged Piston
Honda B16 Dome Piston 81.25mm Bore,
77.4mm Stroke,
134.5mm Rod,
30mm Compession Height,
21mm Pin,
9cc Vol. 297g,
11.5 c/r,
4032 Aluminum

Your going to lose ablout 0.6 on your compression ratio. If you need any B16b con-rods or a crank let me know as i'll soon be breaking my motor.

no point in switching to a b16b block unless you put in a b18 crank and rods

x2 on that. It's far more expensive to build a b16b bottom end than b16a. You'll need custom rods and pistons to achieve high compression(12.0cr+)

I need to stay 1.6 because the engine is for a rally car. My own engine is 175bhp and it needs a rebuild. So I was just going to upgrade to b16b for a bit more power.

Just build your b16a. You can make just as much power with a b16a when built as a built b16b. What class you in?

Class 11 so at the moment im 50bhp down on the top lads

Competitive class. Again though I would still build your b16a. With the right combination of parts you'll get in around 210bhp out of a b16a which will be right up there with what the rest are running in that class:nice:

what parts do you think id need to get that power? The engine is standard vti at the min except for the pistons.
