I went for a test drive of a dead stock standard 99 DC2R for a friend of mine yesterday. The strange thing is he found the power wasnt that great. When I took it for a drive, I also felt the same. My CTR is quicker, and my stock 2001 DC2R is a lot quicker. We're trying to figure out the differences between 99 and 01 models.

Some locals saying that 01 models have CTR cams which are slightly more aggressive.
Its hard to tell unlike JDM models where they have 96spec and 98spec. In AU and probally UK as well, DC2R is released in 99, so its hard to say that 99 is 96spec and 00-01 is 98spec. Also all of our models only come with 4-2-1 headers unlike JDM 98spec 4-1 headers.

anyway... the engine has full history logs and runs quite smooth. It was a bit hesitatant at 8000rpm, and power seems down everywhere compared to my 01 DC2R. My CTR pulls harder especially from 6000rpm.

Any ideas why?
Do they have different cams?

I'm pretty sure that the exhaust and header has smaller diameters, Keep in mind, that AUDM AND UKDM dc2s have less hp, since they where made to run reliable with 93 octane gas, compared to 98 octane + japan petrol. :)

yeh, theres no real official differences stated by honda in au that i know of, so I'm not sure.

I know that JDM is 197bhp and AUDM is 190-193bhp. But we are comparing 1999 AUDM with 2001 AUDM DC2Rs.

I dont know why my 2001 ITR pulls harder than a 99 ITR?

I think they have the same specs as the USDM integra type r, I'll search for information.

AUDM is B18C7 :D Its different from US and UK again.

That is a wicked manual you found there RVM! :nice:

how come the USDM type R is only 10.6CR? Ours is 11.1CR. No wonder they boost their DC2Rs so easily. Its much harder to do that here with 11.1CR.

It doesnt compare the older and newer models though. I thought only 1000 DC2Rs were sent to US? So they couldnt have had any upgrades or did they?

Man, wheres all the UK peeps here?

i used to have ukdm itr dc2, they were first released in 98, and as far as i'm aware the spec was the same untill the end of production,
engine code is b18c6, exhaust manifold is 4-2-1, the header pipes are very small, smaller than the exhaust ports so a big restriction! and the collector is small (2 1/4" i think),ecu is different to jdm model i think to work with lower octane uk fuel, dont know what the cr of the uk model is. cams are same as jdm as far as i'm aware.

what octane is fuel in australia?
maybe usdm cr is lower to handle us fuel if that has lower octane.?

Cool, well when the 99 ITR came out in AU, we only had 95 octane max at that time. Later in 2000-2001 we received our 98 octane. This might be the reason why we have 11CR, but I'm not so sure if that also applied to our 99 models. CR does give more power.

The headers on my ITR doesnt look that small on impression. Maybe the 99 models might have had smaller ones. hmm... this is very interesting, because Honda never says anything about the changes, I think if they did, it wouldve pissed off the 99 model owners.

B18C5 = US
B18C6 = UK
B18C7 = AU

It seems as though we received the DC2R last and also have the latest export engine?

When I get the time, I'm going to take some pics of the exhuast system and post it up to see the differences.

Anyhow, my DC2R pulls a lot harder everywhere compared to my CTR. It also loves to drink a lot compared to the 9! ;)

found out uk models had 11.1:1 cr
maybe 99 au model is 10.6 cr like the us engine and 01 models are 11.1
would be interesting to see the audm header to see if its the same as our rubbish ukdm header.

randomly, just out of intrest what part of aus are you from?

Perth :/

hmm, I dont think US had any upgrades since there was only 1000 units made for there.

Yeh, ours is 11.1CR but I'm not really sure about the 99models. When I have time, I'll take some pics for you on the headers :nice:

Ok, I've found out that AU 01 DC2Rs have the upgraded CTR intake cam. All sorted, case closed. :)

intresting.
my sister and brother in law live in cairns queensland and i've been trying to convince him to buy a dc2.:p
