I went for a test drive of a dead stock standard 99 DC2R for a friend of mine yesterday. The strange thing is he found the power wasnt that great. When I took it for a drive, I also felt the same. My CTR is quicker, and my stock 2001 DC2R is a lot quicker. We're trying to figure out the differences between 99 and 01 models.
Some locals saying that 01 models have CTR cams which are slightly more aggressive.
Its hard to tell unlike JDM models where they have 96spec and 98spec. In AU and probally UK as well, DC2R is released in 99, so its hard to say that 99 is 96spec and 00-01 is 98spec. Also all of our models only come with 4-2-1 headers unlike JDM 98spec 4-1 headers.
anyway... the engine has full history logs and runs quite smooth. It was a bit hesitatant at 8000rpm, and power seems down everywhere compared to my 01 DC2R. My CTR pulls harder especially from 6000rpm.
Any ideas why?
Do they have different cams?
