:thanks:

this is a safe relay. you push it to interrupt petrol reaching the engine in emergency.

I Pushed it and i heard it click but when you do you cant push it again and i shacked it and it lets you push it down and you here a click :p

I came across this too. You're engine won't start after you take out your dash. So you'll need to press this to reset some stuff I reckon to allow engine to start. What a headache it was haha

You funny guyes basically this is a safety feature on Honda's from 96+ and in am accident this switch engages and cuts power to fuel pump to prevent fire that's it just leave it alone

Yeah it's meant to be a safety kill switch, but you just press it really to reset something lol. When your engine is running and you press it, it's just like turnin the ignition off

It shouldn't cut the car out when you press it, a inertia switch has a ball bearing inside which when you press the reset button it sits in position and won't come back out by pressing button again. You need to exert enough force on it for the ball to fall out of place which breaks the contact i.e in a crash the g force applied from the sudden deceleration causes the ball bearing to fall out of place. If you hit the outside of switch hard enough it will also trigger it.

Thanks thats what i wanted to know in the first place...thanks for taking the time to write that up :D :D

I hit a brick that had been left in the road a few years back in my vti.. cut the engine n wouldn't start. had managed to set this off. ended up searching behind the dash at the side of the road as thankfully only a week before i'd had the dash out to sort a leaky heater core and knew where it was

This is quite useful...cause my dash is out at the moment and my engine is swinging but the car wont start. N im bussing my brain trying to figure out y.

Hit a kurb at a roundabout in my ej9 once, car died instantly, but turned the key and fired right up, Thank god, or I wouldn't have had a notion about this lol

Old thread, i know :)

But i would like to remove this inertia switch in my racecar...
I have search and search, but cant find any info on how to remove it.

On the dyno at higher rpms and on bumpy roads/hidding curbs, the engine kinda holds back/cuts fuel, as if the inertia switch is on/off on/off....

Anyone know how to "hot wire" the inertia switch ??? or do i have to rewire everything from the pump ?

Btw its a 98 Civic EJ9.
