OEM EK9 NON-SRS is the best wheel!
Big no no on the S2000/EP wheel, looks ****. OEM EK9/DC2. Why get rid of an airbag in a daily?

why get rid of the airbag on a daily... Because they are not a very effective for a lot of people and may cause a more serious accident.

I hear the same about seat belts.
OK it would be more fair to say the single stage airbags from about 8+years ago (EK civic for instance) are IMHO not much of a 'safety' feature, unless you are very average height, build, seating position etc in a direct head on crash. I've had a pretty big smash where it didn't fire and I walked out, my sis had a head on crash and the Doc said the airbag was the main cause of her facial injuries, without she would have had whiplash which would have been much less serious.
they are getting better with the new dual charge ones and technology that notes your seating position etc but I'd happily live without in my daily and in an EK I don;t think removing the airbag is a safety issue at all (you insurers' opinion may differ if your looking for a pay out though).
That's a good statistic. You had a crash and you sister had a crash...
Go find the statistics, they are out there, ignore anything american, and find the german testing, there used to be a youtube channel for one of the german test labs and they did crash tests on older vehicles and 'non standard' accidents (like what happends when you rear end a truck at 70 and the flat bed behind you takes half a second longer to react, your volvo 850 shrinks to about 3' long). one of the things they showed was airbag testing on the up against the wheel granny driving position, gangsta lean seat rake and non-std seats (including harnesses anchored to the rear seat squab mounts with folding seats, massive spinal injury anyone?). I'm 6'4, I know an airbag will do sod all for me in an accident because by the time I get to it its too far deflated, likewise my sis was leaning forwards in the seat turning up the radio and the airbag gave her a broken jaw and cheekbone. if you are joe average in an stock car they will help you in a head on accident, that is a small portion of road accidents.
EDIT: cant find the vid, but here, even a modern motor with lots of airbags, they don't do you much good in a typical crash
