Hi guys, my old man wants to get insured on my ek9 aswell as me, i checked a few insurers over with his details and the cheapest i got was around £500! Even sky insurance let me down by saying they only do fully comp cover or something?

Anyone know the best insurers to go with for a golden oldie to get insured on a ek9. he has no accidents in the past 7 years etc etc but he doesnt want to use his NCB on it as he uses it on his Golf..

The car is lightly modded Skunk2 inlet, Tanabe full and a ITG air-intake which i want all declared.

Anyone know any good insurance companies? i was thinking of giving adrianflux a go..

Cheers for any input

whats up with fully comp? its the best cover, usually gets you bonuses like breakdown cover, windscreen cover, protected no claims etc.

Who are you insured with just now? Also, you cant get him to insure it on a seperate policy, thats not allowed.

My mum and are both on my insurance and there 54 . Thats everything on my car declared with sky

I dont get what your asking bud ? Do you think thats dear with your old man on it , are you cheaper on it yourself ?

No i thought £500+ for third party fire and theft cover for a 50year old was quite pricey!

It does sound a bit expensive...although i'd imagine it would be around the £350 mark at best.

Third Party Fire and theft can be more expensive aswell so do try comprehensive. Sounds daft but i think its to do with drivers being more likely to have an accident if they have 3rd party insurance compared to comprehensive.

But if you already have a policy on it then just add him as a named driver. It might brings yours down a bit if you are a young guy. Also i don't think you can have 2 different policies for 1 car :nice:

Is that in your name with your dad as a named driver or vice versa ?

It still depends on all the other factors where you stay , where the cars parked , security and what not . Normally having an older experienced driver on a policy helps

The car isnt insured at the moment, Were deciding wether to get him insured under my policey as a named driver or for me to go under his.

Worth while getting it in your own name mate if it aint to price ;)

How old are you?? no claims etc. i had all this trouble when sorting out my insurance. If your in your early 20's few insurance companies will insure you as a named driver on a parents policy, and therefore you will have to be the policy holder.

im 19 with 2 years NCB. We got a decent price for my old prefacelift with him insured under my name last year. But this time round no insurance company will touch me! :nono:

Thats why i thought £500 for just my old man insured under it isnt TOO bad but soon as my name goes under it im guessing it will shoot right up again! Has anything changed in the insurance world recently? :secret:

Cheapest online quote from the usual popular insurance companies.. £3817 a year.. FML

I insured my ek9 in july this year. 19, 1 years ncb, 2 years driving.
I have both my mum and dad on the policy. The more the merrier :D, Older women will bring it down a lot. Aunt's ets
I couldn't get insured as my dad being policy holder and me being named driver. Nobody would even quote me. so i'd imagine it'll be the same for you.
Insurance has gone up a lot recently so you might have trouble being cheap.

Its going to be close to £2000 on a good day i'm afraid :((

I might just wait until May when i get my 3rd year NCB and ill be 20 by then.. and just gets parts for it in the mean time (wooo fun..)

Also theres been ALOT of theft, civics and especially ek9s and jordans in bristol at the moment, JAMER-EK9 and And1_eK9 both on the forum have just had their 9`s stolen from their drives and a jordan has recently been stolen down the road from me all within a month. Could this bump prices up for my area on civics or wud insurance companies just look past that?

If you can wait a couple of months i would. Hopefully go down by then. Stolen cars will put up insurance but if its recent i doubt they will have all there info etc.
Also if you can pay at once it will save a fair bit. Its difficult if you can't but it saved me £500 + paying all at once.
Also try not mod it too much....i know its difficult haha but should keep insurance low
Also phone insurance companies. The comparison websites are ****. Admiral are a good bet

try aon insurers mate, i think they are now known as rsa, my dad uses them as compnay insurers however there are a good reputable company and only insure people over 25 with good track records so they should give u a good quote :)

iam 18 and for my insurance it £2678 fully comp on name with all mods down and down as a import

try the admiral multi-car thing its good for getting money knocked off
