Since fitting a silencer to my exhaust ive noticed that the 1st gear in my EK9 is quiet noisy? Its a whine similiar to reverse gear, increasing with speed. Before now the noise was drowned out by exhaust noise?
All gears ingage smoothly including 1st, with no crunching.
Just put in spoon engine mounts, could this have anything to do with it?

Would appreciate any insight

hmmm it could be a bearing in the gearbox. Ime not to sure thow Mfactory or Ragingangel would be best to answer this they know gearboxes really well. It could be fine thow mate sorry i couldnt be more helpful.

Mines whiney through all gears. I hope thats normal for my ITR?

The oem gears shouldn't really whine at all (other than reverse). When was the last time you changed your gear oil, and with what?

my gearbox started to whine threw all the gears and i took it to the shop and the problem was the bearings int the gearbox once i had them changed the noise stoped but now i find it hard to engage 3rd when coming from 4ht to 3rd at high revs, i need to blip the throttle to engage it, maybe this is helpful for you.

Take it back to them and tell them you have a problem. It sounds like they haven't put things back properly.

The last gearbox oil change is unknown as i just bought the car, jap import with no history as usual?
Funny think is the box feels tight so not sure??

I am presently giving the car the once over an want to change the gearbox oil, hoping it will get rid of the whine.!
Was lookin at the discussions on oils, Am i best off sticking with honda MTF3? Alota gud talk bout pennzoil sychrnomech or it just gud for curing damaged boxes?
Motul?

Cheers for the help

stick with the OEM fluid first. The car may have an aftermarket LSD too since it is a grey import.

If that is the case, you may get some horrible noises from using the standard fluid - you would have to go with Motul or Amsoil with a friction modifier. This has been covered many times, do a quick search. =)
